GEOS North America Sold to Open Hearts International College

GEOS North America Announced on September 10 that it has signed a letter of intent [PDF] for the acquisition of all 12 GEOS schools in North America by Florida-based Open Hearts International College.*

When GEOS' Australia schools suddenly closed, GEOS North America was quick to tell its students that everything was OK. That didn't work out very well, did it? Now Open Hearts is making a similar statement:

Open Hearts International College, under owner and President Jenny Nieveen, has run a successful school in Miami for over 10 years, and with the acquisition of the GEOS operations, the goal of the company is to create the strongest and largest group of language schools in North America.

Upon the completion of the sale, GEOS North American schools will retain all staff and the company will continue to offer the highest level of customer service to both students and partners, local and international. The schools will also retain the “GEOS” name as well as relationships and commitments to all agents and vendors.

Open Hearts International College and GEOS North America look forward to building on the mutual strengths of both companies, and on becoming an industry leader in North America and around the world.

It's interesting that they are keeping the GEOS name given how quickly GEOS Australia and GEOS Japan collapsed earlier this year. Other than the press release, I know nothing else about the deal. Consider this an open thread to talk about the remains of GEOS North America.

*OK, the title of this post is misleading. GEOS has not been sold at this point, but expectations are that the deal will eventually be done.

EXACTLY! Knew it! Typical Montreal HO style. Uri always blames everyone else. But HE is responsible for the Internet stuff because he DID implement it and controlled it. Enough said.

MapleStuff: Any word on the OH sale/ no sale?

Thank you for your input. You have friends on here. ;-)

I have LOTS of files from those information leaks. Some are very good. I know Montreal and the rest of GEOS could be in for some serious shit if someone wanted to nail them with the documents. A lot can be gleamed and I am sure some competitors would want them. Not to mention the Canadian and American governments. Hmmmm, what to do?

Open Hearts has always been conencted to NACEL. The owner of Open Hearts is married to the head dude at NACEL .. in fact, he is the owner (partially, as it is "in the family") of Open Hearts and has been for years. There is nothing shocking nor new about this.

One wonders why it was only now put up on its main page? What happened to the other schools? And where does that put GEOS in the scheme of things?.

So, you see to have in-depth knowledge of OH. Can you tell us what is happening to the "sale" of GEOS to OH? You should know.

Well @11.46 that is a stunner.....is that guy based in Minnesota? ...maybe expalins the nacel "open door" programmes. Maybe he's one of Nap's cousins!!!! What an industry!!!!!!

Who is Nap??

If you download GEOS Honolulu's brochure, they still mention GEOS worldwide and have the email addresses of the different regions. Can somebody please tell Honolulu that Oceania and Europe regions no longer exist.

GEOS NA STILL puts "550 schools worldwide" . They are delusional to say the least.

And since I worked for GEOS in an office capacity, we all knew the newsletters and brochures were only coming from, you guessed it, GEOS Montreal......Yes, home of the infamous Uri Carnat. He controls everything like a good Communist dictator, including ALL brochures at ALL schools, Web sites (notice how they all are going the look of GEOS Montreal's?), and basically . This came really came into play after the bankruptcy and sudden departure of Mike in NYC. Uri still calls himself the Regional Director when there are no "regions" in GEOS land anymroe. The guy likes big titles, smoke and mirrors, and a whole load of B.S.

oHglobal.com still shows many school chains as their network contacts. GEOS schools are the "first choice" in the lists many times but many other schools are given, including LSC, ILSC, IH, etc. Looks like somehow the little guy got, but that also means Open Hearts decided not to remove the other schools when moving GEOS on the list. And there Web site seems to lean toward announcing NEW school partnerships all around the world...Can't imagine OH is going to suddenly end all those partnerships, which many are in direct competition with GEOS schools in North America, if they actually do buy GEOS. But where is the announcement? I do not see them buying GEOS outright. Maybe continuing partnerships. Or if they do buy them.

Anybody with any knowledge on this sale/ no sale? Why the secrecy when there was such a public announcement of a Letter of Internet in September? It is now November. What gives? Thanks in advance.

Surely the relevant accreditation authority cannot condone misleading statements? They surely must read this thread?

How about the followinig false statements taken from their sites:

GLOBAL
...means that we have schools around the world! If students are interested in studying in Canada, we have schools in Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, and Victoria. We have schools in New York, Boston, Honolulu, San Francisco, LA-South Bay and LA-Costa Mesa. Wherever you wish to study, there's a good chance GEOS will be there!

The following statement is on Montreal's site:

As a certified member of Languages Canada and the CLC, and a member of GEOS North America and the GEOS International group of schools...

Now I may be wrong, but I'd like to know where the 'global' schools are?

Boston's website has the GEOS mission statement...'through our global network....." Once again, can you please list your global network? These statements are misleading and deceptive and demand action to be taken by the relevant accreditation bodies.

Their websites state "GEOS was founded in 1973....'; it is now time that they changed this statement to read "GEOS was founded in 1973 and went insolvent in 2010, owing millions of dollars....."

Has anyone noticed that many of the photographs of staff and students have the GEOS world map as the background? As far as I recall this map has dots indicating where the GEOS schools are/were and also has the slogan "Over 550 schools worldwide". Can anyone confirm if this is the same map that is being used?

I'd also like Montreal to list the 46 nationalities.

Yes, they are still bullshitting like only GEOS can bullshit.

The photographs of the world with GEOS "locations" are a direct attempt to confuse and mislead....All Web sites in NA are controlled by one guy in Montreal...Content included. Newsletters are misleading and created by one manager in Montreal. Get the picture?

All of this courtesy of the little guy in Montreal. You see, it was his big wet dream to be head of a "global enterprise", hoping that business school would see that and ignore his rather lackluster grades and degree in Philosophy from a second-rate school. But that came crashing down on him in a big way and now it is all smoke and mirrors to massage his ego. No more big chief.

By the way, GEOS has been informed of the "errors" and misleading information and pictures by way of e-mail, telephone, comments, etc, but nothing has been or will be done about it., Welcome to the GEOS/ Uri way. BS takes precedence over hard facts or reality. He still think he is steering the Titantic, but we know it sunk a long time ago.

P.S. Wonder what the failed sale to Open Hearts has done to that ego? Although we probably won't know because Uri's wife scolded him recently and banned him from getting on this board. ;-)

Yes, I got the picture now!

Perhaps it's time to address a complaint to Languages Canada, or are they a toothless tiger?

Perhaps somone from the Montreal school or any other school in NA would like to come to the defence of the little guy and state the 46 nationalities!!!! FORTY SIX different nationalities!!!

An earlier post highlighted a dramatic increase in numbers after January 2010. Now this is very interesting, becuase when the 'empire' was thriving and all regions were 'flourishing' and agents 'loved GEOS', they could not boast anywhere close to 46 different nationalities. The only logical conclusion is that Oceania and Europe stifled their growth? With theses two regions out of the way, Montreal showed how it should be done! Any university would snap him up as a student with this marketing result!!

Let's have a peek and see what's left of global geos....Singapore, still operating? Korea seems to be chugging along. OK, NZ had an ownership and name change but still has that certain geos aura...you get the same feel with the UK operation. Who actually has bankrolled these "new" outfits because u see some mangerial faces from the geos days sitting in the big chairs there. Know what, wouldn't be surprised if an old familiar name from japan wasn't still floating around here/there somewhere. Where is he these days?? Japan, Halifax, Swisscheeseland, a small flat in Westmount?
Let's go home...geos na....who owns it?...where's the bankroll stashed? Why would another company look to a take-over? Much kinder to wait and see what happens to the geos finances this winter season. Too many questions and not enough answers....I know, I know.

GEOS finances going south fast without Open Hearts bank account. Hence the push. Going down fast. Hence why Mrs. Carnat asked the little one to get a real job. Writing on the wall. Fun, fun!

Uri "K" and Special K still in contact with each other. Special K disappeared to another country. Money coming from somewhere. But that money will never pay back the millions owed around the world. Including the money to Oceania from GEOS Montreal.

Just where has the little japanese diamond secreted himself? Ok guys, sniff him out, go for it...................

*sniff, sniff* Westmount?

Checked out GEOS Singapore and GEOS Korea websites. Singapore has a lnk to the CEO's message, but this seems to be 'not working'. They still hold on to the GEOS misison statement and meet the challenge bs. Anyone know who the current manager of Singapore is?

Koreas's website has the following (just love the English and also the fact that their email and fax machine 'it is available 24 hours'):

Poor GEOS. Australian schools all collapsed.....Now one of GEOS NA's main competitors, and arch-nemesis in Montreal is going into Australia!!! Poor GEOS and the aspirations of its "Regional Director." ILSC is killing them. But then again, poor Uri tried to copy the ILSC Web site for his own master GEOS plan. The little dog following the big dog.......

http://blog.ilsc.com/?p=1165

Is Japan next for ILSC?

P.S. ILSC San Fran school is not doing so well, with a new promotion of study three weeks and get one free. However, ILSC has rapidly expanded recently.

@ 14:48, great pick-up. This could be a really effective alignment of interests. The New Delhi links tie in well with Indian students focused on new-world higher education slots.
Sorta puts the GEOS NA shambles into the shade, particularly if ILSC are quick in setting up quality links into Korea and Japan and Europe. Students are currently really cagey about where bulk money is put following the GEOS and other collapses. Ozzie education market is a bit shaky at present- with the high dollar and visa changes - but it will all settle. Good on ya ILSC.

Wel, in Montreal the manager can't even notice that most of "his students" are heading to ILSC and another small school just north of him (all the Japanese are going there, Uri! Wake up! CLC, anyone?). ILSC has a lot of pull with agents because it is NOT GEOS, pays huge commissions, and has a brand new facility that cost A LOT of money. Size does matter, even if it doesn't necessarily add the same to better education. Still beats the shitbox of a "school" that Uri runs in Montreal.

One of GEOS's successes has been in tapping into the Middle East - particularly Saudi - market. No reason atall that ILSC can't materially increase its exposure to that same market. ILSC could soon be working the room here in Canada with the SA Cultural Bureau and the CBIE (Libyan) officials and picking up on the plethora of agents operating out of the ME. As I understand it, the SABC also have a significant number of students currently placed across a range of educational institutions in Australia. The platform is there for entreprenurial work on the part of ILSC. It would be easy for them to cherry-pick the GEOS staff with the ME connections, if they wished. That's of course if they wanted to knock out competition in the market...they may just see GEOS as irrelevant.

Let's just say Uri Carnat doesn't seem to have a clue that those Japanese students that first came to his school are being forwarded (nudged, pushed?) to the school in Monkland by a member of his own office staff. In fact, she sits right behind him in that shitty little office of theirs. Her allegiances are to Japan and Japanese first, and since it doesn't look like GEOS will be in Japanese hands for much more, she will continue to "recommend" students go there. You see, this school is partly owned by a Japanese woman. Sad part is Uri cannot even notice the woman working behind him is forwarding his own Japanese students to another school in town. A flirtatious smile and playing dumb does the trick every time.

Exactly, the Japanese and Korean kids are really sensitive now to GEOS's track record of going under with students' fees being unprotected. The GEOS Australia model did so much damage to the market that you wo't believe.

9:22 THAT totally makes sense at GEOS Montreal. Overheard one of my students talking about that school, but did not know anything about them. The students talking were all Japanese, and maybe one Korean, and at least one said she wanted to leave GEOS and go there...And then I heard Sayaka's name, but not sure if it was directly related to that school because it was in Japanese sometimes but it seemed like it was. For any fellow teacher's on here, the students did mention two of our students already attended the other school...There names start with "B" and "N", with the last one being Japanese. It only makes sense that Sayaka would push them there given the Japanese connections (think small, tight community in Montreal that acts much like a cult). Only time will tell if we lose more to an upstart.

Hey ass-hole. Yeah, you. 9:22. Jesus fucking Christ. Maybe if you actually finish high school you will learn to spell. What are you? Some dumb yobbo from Australia who doesn't know the difference between THERE and THEIR. Fuck, no wonder you're in Montreal pretending you know the English language. "THERE NAMES START WITH..." Holy shit man!! If you don't teach for GEOS, that school really is blessed not to have you, but if you do teach there (their?) they're (there) truly fucked. What you need is a 4-week CELTA course. Coincidentally enough, I know just who to put you in touch with - for a small fee that is.

Dere, dere, dere - don't be getting dose little knickers of yours in a knot.

ESL Teacher from Oz: Coming from the land of kangaroos and useless outback, do we really care? Oh, wait, you started off by pretending to be an "Oz" teacher but then reverted to asking if the woman or man worked in Montreal? Why so direct with the assumptions? Wake up Napoleon, you are being watched.

If you haven't noticed on here, people spell shit, or misuse words, wrong all the time...Sometimes a lack of spelling awareness/ syntax/ etc. and sometimes just plain speed of which people write and could not really care. If you want to be a "spell/ syntax/ who-gives-a fuck master", go get a job in teaching English and DO your job instead of hanging around here nitpicking your way to oblivion. Seriously, this is not an ESL class and people DO write quickly and do NOT edit. Waste of time to edit like you are handing in some

Obviously you have nothing to do and nothing of value to say. Add to the discussion or leave.

P.S. If he cannot spell or use the proper word, then he probably has a CELTA piece of paper. ;-)

22:06 You have a friend on here. Would love to hear more about what went ( ;-) ) on in dear ol' GEOS-land. Entertain us.

From another friend........

School newsletters are now two months behind....

GEOS.net newsletter two months behind....

Work piling up....

Students not piling up........

The students who are there now considering that little Japanese-owned school in Montreal....Japanese influence for sure!

Oh, and the little manager guy in Montreal is going to a very special agent fair in...you guessed it....MIAMI. Last ditch effort to save things during some down time?

Anybody have anything to add?

There are many friends on this thread.

Which agent fair is 'oh little one' attending? Looking at the calendar of events in the L&T, there does not seem to be any major fair on in Miami. I also note that he had his moment of glory commenting on the sale to OH (pg 8)

We are still waiting for a breakdown of the 46 different nationalities. Maybe little one is using 'creative statistics' in that as they teach French and English he simply combines the nationalities of the two? If this is so, then can we have a breakdown of the nationality mix on the English programme and the nationality mix on the French programme? (considering it is accepted that there are 195 countires in the world, having 46 different nationalities means that he is getting students from 23.5% of the countries in the world.....not bad for a two bit operation that can only take 75 students).

Numbers must be falling rapidly across all the schools now as they head into low season!

hey ozhead of the outback aint nuffin wrong wit learnin to spell proper im pritty shur it might help you get off da streats and into a halfway house for kangaroo buggarers oh and by da way speed kills doin it too fast kills ya baby wont make your pardner that happy either finishing up so fast and yer right i aint got nuffin to say or nuffin to do thats why im on this fun lets do japan page just like u ahole and whaddiya mean by saying dis aint no ESL page hmm right just scrolled up to the top yup says it write their EIKAWA dont dat meen ESL SCHOOL IN JAPANESE

Strewth, I just scratch me noggin when geos drongos like Mr Puddle try and shoot the breeze here. Fair go blue, if he had as much dynamite as he has brains, he wouldn't have enough to blow his hat off. Obviously the poor bloke ain't the full quid. Anyway, I got to shoot through before Mr Puddle really gets me spewing... Oroooooo fellas, I'm off for a couple of Schooners before I bludge up some lesson plans for Thursday....

16:24 Reatrd...Sorry, there really isn't any other word for you...The page is LETSJAPAN and NOT "EIKAWA"! The thread you are on is "GEOS North America Sold to Open Hearts International College" and NOT "EIKAWA" OR "ESL." Scroll the the top and, if you can read, you will see OPEN HEARTS and GEOS.

Seems a certain someone in Montreal doesn't like GEOS name being batted around and all the secrets spilling out.

LOL

21:44 You make me laugh every time. I can just see you sitting back and writing this. :-) Tis, tis...The little guy in his Montreal fiefdom won't be so happy with ya. LOL

In response to my post at 16:24, before a certain someone flames this board because I wrote "reatrd", please look up "sarcasm" and "shenanigans" in the dictionary. It was written that way on purpose, but I am afraid you will not be able to comprehend that.

If you could not pick it up, I called you a RETARD *rollseyes*! LOL

2010/12/05 - 2010/12/07: ICEF North America (Miami, USA)

Page 8 where?

Julia Callicrate, GEOS Honolulu

Nice to see the managers keep changing at all the schools, not to mention the staff seem to leave weekly. Must be a good place to work since they *stay sooo long.*

If anyone hasn't noticed, Uri is doing the final victory lap around the world before he leaves GEOS/ the place crashes in. Berlin, Paris, Miami, etc. It is called "FREE travel" on the backs of other workers so he can schmooze and make himself feel good. Oh, and the free airplane tickets and hotel rooms don't hurt either...away from the kids and wife. Will be on his resume soon, you know. Big CEO/ CHIEF/ MANY COUNTRIES. Meanwhile, we sit here and do his shit and take shit all the time.

Apologies, but it's page 7. You can read the digital version www.hothousemedia.com and click on Language Travel Magazine.

Also note that Languages Canada has appointed an auditing firm to assist in the raising of its standards. Perhaps they can start with GEOS NA..........like how a school accredited for 75 has 246 students!

She also resign? Why would she leave a school that is so profitable (lol). Was this school not the cash cow of NA?

Saw the Language Travel Magazine and the "glorious" announcement by Uri Carnat of the "sale" to Open Hearts...So where is that sale??? Or is it another case of GEOS smoke-and-mirrors?

Oh, there is sooooo much that could be divulged to the new Languages Canada auditor. I, along with a few others, are just thinking of what could be told first. I guess it just depends on how we are treated from here on out. ;-)

Can anyone inside provide any guidance on the following:

* Uri going to Miami?

* Open Hearts progress/ no progress?

* Any other recent employee exits?

* Anything else of value?

Commissions, Promotions, and Desperation

* The Superlink, where students can study in two different GEOS locations and get free airfare between the cities, is up and running. If you look closely at it they are really trying to push students to Western schools in NA (Superlink terms and fine print). Seems Vancouver, San Fran, Cali schools, Hawaii, etc. haven't been doing too well for a while. In fact, almost all of them are at the bottom of the GEOS profit/ revenue list. It is amazing how for 30+ years GEOS never promoted inter-school enrollment due to inter-school rivalries, lack of organization, and plain incompetence.

* Rita Chen in Korea is throwing out the huge commissions and bonuses to agents there. Too bad the other agents do not know about this...Maybe they should be updated. ;-)

* All agents are been offered a minimum of 25% for students plus a FULL 25% continuation bonus for any student who continues there studies/ renews. However, some are getting 35% in NA plus the continuation of that....Guess quality itself doesn't sell.

Fill in any missing details I might have left out or unaware of......

Ol' Nially (Niall Campbell to you GEOS-types) seems to be getting his britches all up in da air wit Secularism, . and all dat stuff. Seems he don likey all those people idolizing those gods and stuff, and not him. Why, ol Nially asks the gods..uhhhh...non-gods. He just not seein' how all those stupid people can believe in allah, God, and that damn li' Buddha guy. Ol Nially, ya haven't been to Korea lately, have ya? Thos pesky little Zen weirdos in Japan muss hav', well, weirded ya all out....What to do?! Damn physics is the da-schizzle! No da-allah-hizzle!!! Stupid monks and stuff, ol' Nially says. Wow, do we sense a bit of pent up frustration and an unhealthy obsession with damning....uh...condemming...the beliefs of a certain black president in a certain lil' ol' country just south of us here ios big ol' canada...?

I wonder how ol' Nially is doin' wit all those allah-fearing Saudi types at his school these day? Must have his britches all tied up in a knot. Got to love how Nially "friends" those Saudi and non-secular Koreans, Euros, and others on Facebook while proselytizing about physics rulin' der here world. Ah, the dear ol' Scottish intellect. Makes sense why they are so successful against those pasty lil' brits in the past.......Yuppers!

And don’t even bother 2 say “I wish 2 fuck ewe wood”.)

Let's give NA an applause for their marketing innovation.

1. The Superlink was an Oceania marketing concept which NA has 'stolen'
2. The world map which serves as a backdrop for all the photographs was an Oceania design as well as the slogan 'serious study, serious fun' which NA has 'stolen'

Anything else they could possibly have stolen? What about the money they borrowed in order to keep them afloat?...as they have not paid it back we can deem these funds 'stolen'

global village stole that esl slogan - here is the link http://www.gvenglish.com/english-schools/australia.html ---- top right corner , but you alread know this don't you because you work for glboal village

He's 36 or 37.

GEOS Canada (and NA because of manager in Montreal) stole a lot more. After all, he can't think for himself. There is only so far you can go in business with a philosophy degree.

1. GEO Oceania financial templates in Excel, including basic f-ing stuff that you should already have if you claim to be a "company/ corporation/" (or bunch of third-grade doodlers!)!!!!!!!!!!!...Check.

2. GEOS Oceania map...Check.

3. GEOS Oceania marketing systems...Check.

4. There is more....

GEOS!!!

Almost the weekend......Finally will have some free PERSONAL time to spill out a few more secrets here at GEOS NA. For all you GEOS Montreal/ East Team watchers, stay tuned. Pipe in if you have anything more.

Cheers to the weekend and writing form a PERSONAL computer....Sorry, lil' guy.

Tx @00.20. Noticed some time back that the Canadians had ripped off the finances matrix that we put together here in Melbourne. Never got a tx for it. Didn't say anything at the time as we just took it as an accolade. Always thought our student record system was better than Stars, though.
Didn't worry too much about our world maps either. Always had a bit of a laugh with the GEOS team up in Sydney 'cos their GEOS location stickers on the map in the foyer were either always fallling off or being augmented with student's own "write-ons."

Melbourne Manager:

Nice to see you on here....From one ex-GEOS to another...

Yes, a whole lot was ripped off from you, including after the fall of Australia. A certain "Regional Director" in Canada raped your files and systems via none other than Special K himself (and his stalwarts). Sad part is all this stuff should have . Sad when Australian schools (and the U.S. ones) which were/ are much younger than the Canadian ones had to be pilfered for normal business documents and system by the Canadian manager. You would think that after 20-some years in Canada they would have at least a high school business class equivalency. Nope, a simple income statement is foreign and stressful.

Anything is better than STARS. But if you look at any system or software that GEOS uses, it is so out of whack with other industries or completely incompatible with other schools int he same country. And you wonder why GEOS failed so miserably?

Aussie friend: look for more things stolen from your operations being used int he future. And if you are looking into the money trail/ funneling/ laundering, look towards a certain French-English city in Canada and its special relationship with Turkey during a certain period. ;-)

Uri Carnat is no longer on this board. He swore off Let's Japan a few weeks back. He used to be on here as many rightly guessed, but not anymore. I think the whole Open Hearts sale failure (yes, FAILED) really pissed him off and he did not want to be humiliated (know that he was being humiliated) on here anymore. That and the lack of control on here. So you won't see him on here anymore. Sorry, guys and girls.

Nothing more to be said.

RippedOffToff / ex-GEOS Melbourne Manager: Would that be Natalie Reddy? Or would that be Jade Harris? Probably neither since both Natalie and Jade have met Uri Carnat, Gary Maserow, Michael DiGiacomo, Im Redding, Paul Clark, Wendy Teraoka, Peter Millington, Matthew Chisholm, Yvette Kim, Daiji Sato, Andrew Devey, Martha Munroe, Victor, Anthony Drury, Justin, Ueli, David Page, Tina, Kevin, Ann Piscopo, Naoko Azuma, Stefan, Sharon, Rebecca, etc, etc, etc…; AND THE REAL EX-MANAGERS of Melbourne all know that there is one person, and one person only on this planet who screwed everyone including the hundreds and hundreds of paying students plus the caring teachers at GEOS Australia and GEOS Japan: this person’s name is TSUNEO KUSUNOKI. So, Global Village, ILAC, LSC/ILSC, KGIC, ZONI, PGIC (etc, etc, etc…) employee, or whoever you really work for, I think you should try something different, because I don’t like it when someone uses my title without my permission and under false pretences; and if you want to use Let's Japan as a Hate Blog for GEOS, why don't use it to spew your hatred towards KUSUNOKI. He truly deserves it.

My pick for HATRED SPEWING: Tsuneo Kusunoki and his little lap dog Uri Carnat. Also Mathew Chisholm, Uri current little lap dog, comes in third place. Fourth? Anybody with the surname Kim.

Of course that is only my two cents and I do not know much of the Aussie side of things. Maybe the Aussie's can fill us in. Would also love to hear from the our GEOS American counterparts. And, no, I only worked for GEOS. Can't see why other competitors would be on here hating GEOS and having so much inside info. They have better things to do with their lives and GEOS doesn't matter in their world.

Paws and whiskers! That was an informative list @10:09 did provide. You could almost say "a litany". Course it was merely generated from web-available info and that shows thru all the significant names our poster ommited. Myself? mmmmmmmm, I tend towards name anonominity on forum sites....but each to their own, I suppose.

Anyway, I did have the pleasure of meeting Mr Kusunoki on a number of occasions, and via a significant number of informative v-chats. It is interesting to recollect the particular attitudes that a number of those on @10:09's honour roll demonstrated towards our Tokyo boss. Let's say that many arses gleamed in the noon-day sun. And some were gleaming away right until the Oz end. Indeed, it was said that the office cupboards at various sites had run out of Brasso and that some were driven to using white-board cleaner to achieve the required lusture. But that's just a romour that I don't believe is true.

Oh, and by the way, @10:09 I really don't see much of any hate in my post of 09:05....some memories, some laughter, some acceptance and general comment, but some hate, think not.

This just puts things in perspective:

. www. cheaponsale.com/d-pl116123256555537600-geos_language_academy_montreal/

"Cheap On Sale" is right! What a sad, sad, very sad state GEOS is in right now. They have to sink this low to try to get students. Plastic toy factory in China, anyone? Shame.

SGS. Anyone know what I am talking about? ;-)

Reading your comment (I think the whole Open Hearts sale failure), it sounds as if the sale to OH is OFF. Is this official? OH finally work out that the figures somehow never stacked up?

Shawn, no sale to OH.

And, yes, I know what "SGS" means.....Are we talking the cheap-o etched glass find? ;-)

Any announcements to confirm this?

Shawn

Hey, Shawn. I am working on getting some written confirmation/ communications that can confirm it. Let's just say any failed sale will definitely NOT be posted on any GEOS sites or media communications anytime soon. Best thing is to contact OH directly and watch their site for any updates.

Shawn, my suggestion would be to contact OH directly and just be honest that you would like clarification. A couple of us would love to do this, but cannot due to obvious work reasons. ;-) I am sure Jenny will be honest with you and it will go a long way to clarifying this board. However, all signs right now point to a failed or "delayed" sale. It has been two months and counting since the big announcement, and GEOS financial records (which you saw) specifically accounted for a sale going through for the beginning of October.

I second that Open Hearts will not buy GEOS. OH just added a few other partner schools in its NA network. GEOS will continue as one of those "partners."

Need an update, Shawn.

No sale to Open Hearts. Correct the title.

Do you have a link or can you provide documents to confirm? It's about time to close this thread and start a new one.

Shawn

Extract from Montreal's website below. How does one work as a 'register'? and 'what has passed a few years in Montreal?" . Guess Yasu collects the cash as well! How did this escape the big man?

Yasumitsu Hashimoto
Registrar
Yasumitsu Hashimoto, alias Yasu, is at GEOS as a register, and he enrolls new students. His major task is to prepare necessary documents for the students to start on requested dates. It has passed a few years in Montreal, and this interesting multi-cultural city made him decide to settle down here from his country, Japan. This city has completely different face in summer and winter, and he hopes GEOS students enjoy amazing moment through the year in the city and at GEOS Montreal.

Don't blame Yasu...The big guy/ little guy/ "regional director" does ALL of the Web site writing. Not just for GEOS Montreal, but other locations in NA also. When your manager writes like that, well, it kind of put things in perspective. or should I say perceptive. ;-)

It does look like the sale is a no-go. While there is obviously no direct links or documents floating around (miss those days... ;-) ), there is also no announcement of a sale or records in Florida or otherwise that would support it. Since Uri decided to contact Language Travel Magazine to make a big announcement, which now seems a little premature, I am sure he would announce it to the world if he could.

Shawn, can you contact OH? I would not trust anything from GEOS NA office, but OH should give some clarification. After all, they would be the ones to make the decision to delay things, not GEOS who is desperate for a quick sale.

Yeh, don't knock the Yasu guy. He's doin his best. Started as an admin asst. Now he's moving up the corporate ladder to registrar. Who know, one day in future he can be montreal manager. Or even shifted down to the bogata operations. His mum would be happy happy.

Nobody's knockin' Yasu. He is just a typical Japanese office worker taking the punishment from the incompetent and inept management types. He seems scared to leave and get a better job, almost like it is some mafia organization. Sad, really. He does have his compatriot in Sayaka-san....But as someone said earlier on this board, she is ushering Japanese students to some new school outside of downtown. Japanese pride (owner is Japanese)? Maybe. Or maybe she just knows more than we do about the state of GEOS NA right now.

Why is that Shawn's job? You can't do it yourself?

12:19 I hope that was sarcasm or you are one delusional dude. Maybe a tad scary too.

There is a very good reason why I or others cannot contact OH. My voice might be recognized. Although I am sure Shawn can make his own decisions. Your mommy skills are needed elsewhere.

Oh, of course. Scared it'll get back to your boss and you'll be told off. I see. But why are you asking the owner of this site to do anything for you? Why is it his job to chase up information that has only a very tenuous connection to anything that this site is actually about?

Mr. X (and your other aliases): You are one sad loser. And you seem to be a little obsessed with playing mommy to Shawn and everybody else on here. I am sure Shawn can decide for himself what he wants to do in regards to any requests on here...I am sure he is old enough, mature enough, and professional enough...We do not need an arm-chair general, sideline mouth, or chihuahua pipping in on the matter. The reality is Shawn asked for the "proof" that there is no GEOS sale to OH in response to some posts on here, and a couple of us responded y asking him to contact them directly as the best "official" proof.

Simple matter is I do not need any further proof that the GEOS sale to OH is dead in the water. Just look at the facts....No sale....No announcement of sale....Sale was supposed to be completed, oh, two months ago....GEOS NA accounted for such a plan in its financial records (revenue projections)...Current financial records do not show this...OH is adding new partners to its school network...Even if there magically appears to be a sale in the horizon, it will be a VERY limited role for GEOS given the partners OH has amassed around the world. Good luck competing, GEOS!

P.S. Not scared of the little guy in Montreal. Seriously, he is just bog mouth on a little body. Might put a leash around him and take him for a walk. :-P

Well good for you. You've said that to his face as well?

Would love to say it to his face...Not scared of a chihuahua. Although I might have to bend down a little. Unfortunately, I am not his his little land right now. Maybe I should pay a visit. I am sure there are more than a few who have the same feelings. That's what happens when you f- with people the wrong way. I am very sure he will get his some day. ;-)

Tsk. Isn't that inconvenient? Why don't you send an email? Or just quit if you really hate the job and the people so much?

Nah, only hate one guy....A lot of the reason is because everyone else around me also hates him. Heard the horror stories and always cringe when he comes. We are well prepared for him and smile and wink. Then go ahead an talk behind his back the moment he leaves...

You shouldn't hit ladies... ;-)

P.S. Nice to see you so personally invested in the RD discussion on here....Hmmmmm?

He probably is a bit of a tit as I can't think of many westerners involved in eikaiwa upper management who aren't, but you do realise, don't you, that this post makes you and your co-workers sound like a bunch of two-faced, whiny backstabbing pricks? And you just hate him because everyone else hates him? What if they all thought he was fantastic? You'd just agree, even if he was in fact a total cunt?

17:42 You obviously haven't a clue as to how messed up GEOS NA is right now. You sound unaware of the treatment staff and partners have received. These kind of posts are only the tip of the iceberg. Trust any of us with direct experience and knowledge in NA.....It IS that bad. So the poster you mentioned is just stating the obvious and sounds pretty civil in regards to his/ her poor treatment by the Regional Director of GEOS NA. I have heard a lot worse things said about that guy and seen a few documents that do not help either.......

You are, of course absolutely right that I know next to nothing about what's happening over there, so if you say GEOS NA is messed up I'm the last person to contradict you. However the poster you referred to merely said he or she hated the boss and talked about him behind his back on the basis of some "horror stories" he or she had heard, and not because of any poor treatment that he or she had personally been on the receiving end of. Furthermore smiling to someone's face and then bitching about them the moment they are out of the room isn't generally regarded as a very civil way to carry on.

Isn't that the Japanese way?

GEOS NA is anything but civil. Honestly, you might want to catch up on all the negative comments posted on here over the last year by GEOS staff, suppliers, and others connected to them. Very insightful reading. The poster is just honest.

Your addiction to banging on about GEOS means you are pretty frigging stupid and don't have much of a life.

If you work for GEOS that means you are a desperado with no options.

In other words frigging stupid.

Ok, frigging stupid is too strong, given the unemployment issues in NA.

So, let's keep it to desperado.

Either way stop banging on about his bullshit you bat shit crazy mother fuckers.

11:09 ha ha, but you are the ultimate idiot. Your feelings get hurt or something little baby? GEOS was your little wet dream...ahhhhh....too bad.

Shawn, you need a bigger asterisk...And also on the title. It is misleading. GEOS has NOT been sold to Open Hearts, and for all intensive purposes looks like it won't be for some (if at all). Please correct as GEOS has had ample time to prove there actually is/ was a sale...It has not.

I don't think it's misleading. You only have to look at the first line to see that "GEOS has signed a letter of intent". That seems clear enough doesn't it? Meantime, we all await a sale, or an announcement that the sale is off.

The title is misleading...The first line isn't. Too bad too many on here do not know the difference between tne two. Yup, even language manager-types.

Time for a title change. There is not sale. No evidence of a sale. Nothing. And all evidence leads to no sale. So new title a must to be fair and honest.
