It is just about over for Nova. On top of Nova's cash flow problems, pay for the Japanese staff has been delayed, pay for the teachers has been delayed, schools are being closed (evictions, actually, for not paying the rent) and now teachers are faced with the prospect of being evicted from their apartments through no fault of their own.
Any takers on whether Sahashi actually has a plan to save Nova? When newspapers report that Nova is planning to close some schools, it's not because of some restructuring plan. There is no plan: Nova simply doesn't have the money to pay the leases for its schools and is forced to close them.
And then we have Louis "Voice of Doom" Carlet, of the General Union whothrows Nova under the bus in The Age:
Louis Carlet, from Japan's National Union of General Workers, said, "Usually we're reluctant to speak to the press, because we don't want to precipitate NOVA's bankruptcy, but it's too late for that. We putting [sic] preparations in place."
The General Union knows its over. I wonder if this isn't the best move. At this point, it make sense to accelerate the end of Nova and get the legal wheels in motion to get everybody paid, get students refunded, get people their unemployment insurance, and put an end to this sordid mess instead of letting it drag on with Sahashi's vague faxes of reassurance.

Amen! Someone's finally stepping in and doing something and I for one applaud loudly from the gallery. For a company that takes a hard line on everything, from tardiness to student complaints, it's hilarious just how many excuses they make for their behavior. If we're just 30 seconds late to work, we get a major 4 lesson deduction, (No doubt used to pay off some of their mounting bills), and if enough of them mount up on you they don't want to renew your contract. Also, they are one of the only companies I've had experience with that stacks up student complaints, not just over the course of one contract year, but several as the case may be then want to use them as a basis for not renewing your contract. All this yet, when they are late with salary payments all the unpaid employee gets is a lame duck apology?! When instructors get eviction notices for failure to pay the rent through no fault of their own, they don't EVEN get a lame duck apology! Practice what you preach NOVA/Saruhashi! You demand professionalism from your employees, yet show an overwhelming lack of it yourself! Where is the leadership and professionalism you expect from everyone else, when we really need it?! At a time when employees need reassurance and guidance from upper management, there is none because Saruhashi isn't telling anyone anything. The only thing he's doing is talking about some kind of vague savior who is going to come in a sweep away all of the financial problems. Saruhashi should be some kind of evangalistic sideshow preacher, because the one thing he's good at is feeding people a line of bullshit, offering false hope and taking them for all their worth! I don't believe a word coming out of his mouth and refuse to be lead by the cock through the valley of darkness by a dumb and blind sideshow monkey! I don't trust this company or the monkey running it! But for those that do,ask yourself this question: even if there is this mysterious investor that the monkey is unwilling to disclose information about, how long do you think that money will last? What student is going to sign up with NOVA now? Get out while you can and move on with your lives! I am!
Its all over,Sahashi is fkn tripping! Dark clouds being cast aside, sun shinnig through, dont worry about next months pay,... he has lost it. I have enjoyed my time at Nova, but its time to don the lifejcket, light the flares and bail over the side!!
Good luck to all, dont let any of these pompus gits put you down for being a nova teacher, its all the same game.
I like to think of the ramblings coming out of head office as a lot like something Hitler or Goebels were spouting in say April 45. You know, victory weapons will turn the tide, God is on our side etc.
I slipped through the lines and surrendered to the nearest American (ie I got another gig). Adolf is handing out Iron Crosses to teenage boys hunting Russian tanks. Unless you want to end up in Siberia ( ie another eikaiwa ) I suggest you do it too.
Taking the analogy pretty far but Im a reikshi otaku.
Don't worry, kameraden! I made sure my schedule was closed, Im covering all my shifts, I appologised to the staff-who i respect and empathise with, BTW. I did three years, I liked my co workers (for the most part-gotta admit there's some total arseholes here) but the company was pretty crap. Stay or go, do what's right by your co-workers.
Good luck.

RANDY
Although there are some things I agree with you on. How do you get complaints from students??? I've been working for NOVA for 4 years, and the only complaints I ever got were at the beginning b/c I spoke to quickly, vocab was too difficult, and handwriting was messy. (All true, and most instructors get all of those comments initially), but after I received the feedback and made the changes, I've gotten nothing but positive comments for the last 3 years. It's like I would have to TRY to make someone complain... I'm not trying to toot my horn here, I just think, if a teacher's gotten complaints... more than likely it's deserved... based on my experience anyhow. With the exception of the last month, my biggest beef with NOVA has been teachers fresh out of college who feel like the world and NOVA owes them a favour, and think they're still in college and work to drink basically are "on vacation" while working at NOVA. It's a job. Get over it, and be professional. I'm not the first person to comment like this, and I won't be the last. But seriously, the comment made elsewhere in the forums "the teachers are what make this company" is true in all it's meanings; the good and the bad, unfortunately.
Don't take this as a personal attack, it's just that well, if you're running a customer service business, and customers constantly complain about your service, wouldn't it make sense to keep record of it and hold you accountable to it?
As for being late being a big deal, I'm willing to admit there's probably been a few instructors shafted by a blanket policy when they were genuinely late out circumstances beyond their control, but I'm pretty sure most teachers who cut it close are doing so just because of not giving themselves enough time, ie. living like they're still in Uni.
ANOTHER THING.
JULIE CHALMERS- A GOOD CANADIAN LASS MADE THIS STORY HAPPEN THROUGH HER CHANNELS.
GREAT JOB- WELL DONE.
Is Nova the first job you've ever had?
yes, good analogy, i've mused on it myself on occasion. the wehrmacht is in tatters, morale is low and where's the fuhrer? dunno, none of your business, everything is fine, go back to your posts.
that's why i left. and still, there are ti's who believe things will work out! they fell for the "downsizing will make us leaner" bs and, worse, that the "internal panel" set up by monkey boy has any teeth!!!
COMPLAINTS
``How do you get complaints from students???``
I think the point is that NOVA uses a bunch of irreverent B.S. reasons to not give people raises or to dock pay. And that they are hard-line on so-called `professionalism,` while they scam students, delay employee’s pay and don’t pay rent.
As far as complaints are concerned, like you said, things like hand writing and vocab. So of course you try to improve based on the feedback, but you have already complaints documented against you. In my branch students have complained about a teacher sweating during voice, a teacher’s tie’s being ugly and a teacher using a green colored pen in lessons. So while most students are reasonable, there are some pretty weird customers out there and some of them complain about ridiculous things. The sad part about it is that in my area these types of complaints are used against teachers who don’t kiss ass to those in charge.
4 YEARS @ NOVA !?!?!?

アハハハ!!!
4 years in NOVA. What a fucking loser!!! Congratulations, you’ve put forth your best effort, while we have just been fucking off making a mockery a bullshit job. So now take a look at your situation. It’s a working holiday bro. That’s the way it’s set up. If you’re in denial of this fact, then you’re obviously pretty stupid. We’re all about to be out of a job. Do I give a fuck? Hell no, I came here to party for a year. Let me guess, you’re an AT or BT, you’re married and you thought NOVA was career. I’m actually enjoying this whole bankruptcy thing. It gives us an excuse to fuck off even more at “work”. If you thought we weren’t professional before, you should see the shit people are pulling now.
アハハハ!!!
It's called work ethic and integrity. And you totally missed the point. I'm not gonna change the way you think, that's clear by your ability to see things from such a limited point of view. But way to resort to name calling... If you make a deal with someone, you should do your best to hold up your end of the bargain. It's the right thing to do. I like what someone else said elsewhere in the forums: "My professionalism did not, nor will it ever begin and end with a paycheck." One day my friend, you're gonna wake and realize, "oh wow, I'm not in college anymore, and this is the way life really is."
But it never occurred to you, or other people who have comported themselves in such a way as you have confessed, that NOVA was a means to an end for a lot of us, and that there were plans in place for which the timing has been shot to hell. I'd like to thank you, and all others who have actively played a roll in the demise of the company, and causing thousands others a great deal of stress.
Keep up the self-centered mentality. It'll serve you well in life.
The saddest part is... how long it will take you to grow up and realize there's more to life than getting drunk. "Oh man! I got so wasted on the weekend!" la-di-fricken-da. Who cares? Oh wow. You got drunk. What an accomplishment. While you, and others like you were pissing away your money every weekend at the bar, guess what, I saved up enough money to move back to my country and put a down-payment on a house. 'Cause guess what, one day, you're gonna wake up and go "Oh shit. I'm gonna be 30 soon." And what have you got to show for it?
So don't be so naive and presumptuous as to think that someone like me had no clue about NOVA or thought "yeah, this is a career".
Pack your shit! It’s time to go home. Oh wait, you’ve been letting Monkey Bridge and his flunkeys pack your shit for the last 4 years.
Ethics? Sure uphold your Ethics working for a company like NOVA. This is a perfect example of how a corporation that is only driven by sales and greed fucks itself over. But somehow, people like you hold your head up high with dignity, ignoring the fact that you work for a hack shop that has no ethics. I came thinking I was going to be doing some mildly respectable work for a year or so. But it didn’t take long to figure out the company does not operate ethically. So myself and most people in my branch see it for what is, and we act accordingly. What I can’t comprehend is people like you who pride themselves on being “good teachers” and loyal to the company. I’m a total fuck off at work, non-stop shenanigans. But the students love it and they like me a lot. I’m one of the most popular teacher in my school and I hang out with students quite often outside of work. But my AT has a stick up his ass, and talks shit about me. He is despised by students. In voice we often talk about what a prick he is and how he is loathed by most students. Are his ethics saving the company?
By the way, you might have saved enough money for a down payment on house, but how are you going make the rest of your payments? You’ve been working for NOVA for the past 4 years, you won’t be able to get a job. You have no skills!!! That’s why you’re stressed about NOVA going under.
To the guy who has been
To the guy who has been working at NOVA for 4 years. You have Ethics and dignity. So what? What did that get you working at NOVA? Many of us came here for a semi-productive year off between grad school or before starting a real career.
When I go home, I’ll be 23 or just turned 24. I can say, “After college I went to Japan and taught English for almost a year, but unfortunately the company bankrupted. It was great experience, but now I’m ready to take on a more serious job, where I can use my degree and maybe advanced Japanese language skills”. They won’t know about my 10 TOPATSUs, they won’t know about me getting caught dating students or all the other times I was reprimanded.
What are you going say? “I’m 30, I’ve taught English at NOVA for the last 4 years. I worked really hard and took pride in my job. I would give you letter of reference, but the company went bankrupt “.
You will be a stale 30 year old, who nobody wants to hire. While those of us just out of college, with decent degrees have a shot and doing something. The reason we didn’t take this job seriously is because we knew there was no future in it. So get off your high horse.
hey, Japan is not your playground, kid.
it's too bad some or many teachers in Japan are like you.
what's great about people like you? you just speak English as
your mother toungue.
working with a strong ethic is a right thing to do.
you are getting money from it. can't you realise it?
get out of my country quick and get a great job in your home
country as you said.
you are totally disgusting and are still just a baby.
You rock, dude! Its nice to
You rock, dude! Its nice to see a Japanese perspective on this site for a change.
"Get out of my country". I think that's what most of Asia were saying to the Japanese in the 40's when the pricks tried to take over the world.
so what? I wasn't talking
so what? I wasn't talking about any historic stuff here.
stale 30?
Each to their own i say...
Ethics and work dignity come with age an experience my friend,
You are just a 23 year old baby with no commitments or dependants. But thats ok, because we were all like that once, thats why a lot of people came to this country in the first place! To broaden their horizons, to experience a different culture...to make a fast buck!
I agree Nova is not a career, its a means to an end.Ive been here for 5 years, worked for nova, saved a shit load of money, got married, bought a house.....and from next month i will start a new job.
I like this country and the people ...when you start to learn the language things definitely open up to you. If you have something else of interest in japan apart from just a cultural experience or a relaxed year of work, living in this country can give you more than just a interview response to the question what did you do on your year off?
If your goal is to have fun and be semi productive :good luck, i have no problems with that...do as much as you can and have fun!Go back, study hard and go for your dream job...if thats your goal in life.
Im a stale 30 year old with a beautiful 28 year old wife who looks about 20...Ive got a house, a car, money investments and im not an overweight stressed out executive who spends day after day making love to a computer screen.
What do you have to your name my 23 year old friend?
A piece of paper and a 1 line answer about your year experience in
a foreign country?
NOVA broke? Get a new job....down under.
I read on one of these boards that 5000 of the current Nova teaching staff are Australians. With this in mind, I thought I’d post on the ESL situation back home.
First thing you need to know is that there is a teacher shortage at the moment. Most schools are finding it hard to get the teachers they need. It’s been that way for a couple of years now, but the shortage has been particularly acute the last six months and will only get worse as the peak study season rolls around.
Although ESL teaching is quite different from Nova’s patented “4 bunnies in a box” approach, many of the things you picked in Japan will stand you in good stead back home. (For starters, ex NOVA-ites are usually pretty good at keeping a up conversation with low level learners and have usually picked up a fair bit of knowledge about how English works and how it can be taught).
Within Australia there are dozens of schools in each capital city: more than 100 in Sydney alone. The ESL industry in Australia is regulated by the Federal Government’s ESOS Act 2000. Aside from compulsory insurance to protect students if schools go under, schools are accredited by a body called NEAS that ensures schools, teachers and curriculum are up to scratch. You can get information/addresses on accredited schools from NEAS at www.neasaustralia.com
The reason for the teacher shortage at the moment is probably because the general job market is so strong. Schools are finding it difficult to get good teachers and some of them a resorting to poaching them off each other. Salaries are around $35,000 to $65,000 per annum (I think that’s 3,5000,000 to 6,5000,000 yen), depending on your experience and qualifications.
Speaking of which, to work at a NEAS school you will need a minimum of a Degree and a legitimate TESOL qualification (deemed to be a Certificate IV in TESOL or a University TESOL Post Grad Cert/Dip or an RSA CELTA). Once you have these things you can pick up work pretty easily. You can even get recognition for the work you did in Japan which should reduce the length and cost of getting a Cert IV TESOL through a process called RPL (recognition for prior learning). One Cert IV TESOL provider in Sydney is Greenwich College (www.greenwichcollege.com.au ) And there are others in NSW and interstate.
For jobs ... you can approach schools directly (see the NEAS website) or contact job hunting sites like www.eslstaff.com who should put you in touch with jobs. General job hunting sites like mycareer.com or seek.com run ads too.
Non- Australian teachers can join in too. Pretty much all schools are happy to take native English speakers,a variety of accents is even viewed as a bonus. If you’re under 29 years old you can get working holiday visa unless you’re from USA (coz the US govt doesn’t like WH visas) or New Zealand (coz Bondi is a New Zealand suburb, so our Kiwi bretheren can live here anytime they like). You can get info from http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sheets/49whm.htm
The teaching itself is pretty different from NOVA; students study for 20- 25 hours per week in mixed nationality classes of up to 18 students using a set curriculum and text books that werent published in the cold war. Most classes run five days a week from 9am to 3pm with an hour off for breaks. Decent employers usually pay for lesson preparation time (using a daily rate).
So why am I putting all of this down? Well, I used to work in Japan (including 12 months at NOVA) and I can appreciate the stressful feeling of working in a company that’s on the ropes. However the main reason is that I am now the director of an ELICOS College and am finding it hard to get teachers – so if you’re thinking of calling it quits at NOVA, then get in touch! (blueterrace-AT-hotmail-DOT-com)
PS For stat junkies, you can see the size of the ESL market in Australia by looking at the government statistics http://aei.dest.gov.au/AEI/MIP/Statistics/Default.htm Students numbers are up in every market except Japan which experienced a 5% decrease (another sign the English bubble has broken??) . Another good site is English Australia http://www.elicos.edu.au
WTF, you've improved your
WTF, you've improved your "messy handwriting", and "speaking speed"? JEESUZ KRIST, you think that's improving your work skills? That's a kind of skill improvement expected of elementary school kids. Doesn't that clue you in to what a joke that job is?
Why should anyone "be professional" (whatever that means) at a circus like NOVA?
Thanks for the info! That
Thanks for the info! That was one of the few helpful posts that end up on this site.
it's none of your business,
it's none of your business, is it?
what's wrong with making effort for his work? at least he must be a better
teacher for students than you, I guess.
I really think Nova should choose employees more carefully.
their way of business has been fucked up, but also some teachers seem to be
simply fuckers, too. of course I'm not saying all of them are so. I even
haven't been a student of Nova, so I don't know, but it's my impression from
this site and what Japanese student said about the teachers.
I can't get over the self centred recent University Graduates. Sure, NOVA has stuffed over some people, but by the most part, their only real problem was the recruitment side of things, and it shows with some of the responces here. I was AT for 2 years and I was appauled by the childishness and lack of work ethic by the recent graduates. Coming in late, not showing up due to drunkness, behaving like they are the centre of the universe, shocked me. In Australia, you would lose your job instantly with behaviour like this (and I am proud to say, the Aussies and Kiwis that I worked with were by far, the best workers). So stop blaming NOVA for your childish and immature and pathetic work ethic. I blame them only for recruiting imbeciles like some of those who have posted here who are proud of their binge drinking and their breaking of NOVA rules.
SHOCK!
Generation Y is a bunch of self indulgent, whining, conservatitive voting clowns.Well DUH!
Jesus, grandpa, have another beer and CHILL OUT!!! They're too busy playing with their new gizmo, tweezing their hair or imitating rappers to notice you anyway.
I agree with the arse licker on one thing about some dickheads that work at Nova but Mr. AT you cant condemn anyone considering how much arse you have kissed to get where you are.Its one deplorable act that is not looked highly upon in Australia.Selling out, phonies and sycophants.Nova backstabbing and spying is a disgrace.People are hired to do jobs because they can do those jobs without other peoples help. Its just not a professional environment at all. Also the complaint system is laughable. They are used to cut off bonuses when the contract is renewed.
Lets face it you are an arse kissing slug climbing your way to the top of a shit heap on instructors backs.Doesnt happen in the real teaching world.Everyone has a job and everyone does it together.I want to see the whole Nova structure go down in flames
It comes down to the type of environment you build, The company culture, the reputation you build with employees and with the general industry etc...NOVA and other schools have more than perpetuated this, they have created this lazy assed approach to work. Young impressionable people put into a professional environment gain work skills and professionalism fairly quickly. Put them in NOVA and alot of good people turn into Jackoffs... cuz that is what they see around them as the accepted standard and know little else. There are a lot of marginal folk in this industry (work ethic wise), but the marginal people can be great employees in the right environment.
I can count the good ATs I've had on one finger, and that's in three years!!! Pedantic, nit picking, anal retentive, backstabbing, manipulative, egotistical, jumped up little pocket Hitlers the lot. Shifting the schedule round so they get the frees, the likely no shows, the cuties, the good kids....anything except pulling their weight.
Had one arsewipe check the shift for the next day and chnge EVERYTHING so HIS evaluation class would be soft as shit, then planned it for six lessons!!!! This was someone I was supposed to respect?
Can we start an "I can't believe my AT was such a prick" thread? Guess it would crash the server.
Fuck them all. No sympathy from me.
Exactly.You garner respect
Exactly. You garner respect from your work ethic not lack of it.Come on ATs show us evidence of how hard you work and how about some spy technique stories eg.pretending to water the plants while listening to lessons. The people who become ATs are social cripples, rejects from their own country who gain satisfaction from controlling people with even lower IQs than theirs. Its a retards hierarchy, a refuge for the illiterate mongoloids of the world.
Why arent people awake at
Why arent people awake at this time?i mean its not like you have work anymore or anything.
Nova is a great company. My favourite part is when a student cancels and i have to colour in flashcards. Its a great challenge to try and keep between the lines.I would do anything to uphold the companys name.I mean i already have done a few things for the AT but its all part of the service.Sometimes i hear that students join the school to get screwed by instructors but i cant really believe that although i did hear about the AT who got a student pregnant.Heard hes a real prick too but i cant buy into those malicious lies. How can perfection be tarnished? Is it possible that ATs that advocate professional behaviour arent following their own edicts?Surely not because then they would be hypocrites and there isnt room for such people in the company.Someone told me about some book called 1984.Might open my eyes they said.To the truth or to the lies?
AT's BT's and all the other losers
Please. It's so funny that all the "I'm here to party, fuck NOVA" opinionated people think to be an AT you have to kiss ass.
PEOPLE - the JOB is SO EASY!!! If you teach solid lessons, and do something with your time when you're not teaching - guess what - YOU can be an AT, too! So stfu about brown nosing and ass kissing.
It's just SO pathetic that post-uni graduates are still struggling with adolescent rebellion and authority issues. I know that some T.I.'s are pricks, but not all of them. As an AT for the last 2 years, I've had teachers tell me when they've left that I was the best AT they'd had. Not saying that to boast, just proving that not all AT's are dickheads.
I like what one guy said, back in your country, you guys wouldn't last a day with your work ethics. It's unfortunate that due to the nature of the situation, it's almost impossible for NOVA to fire instructors b/c of how big of an investment each teacher was to the running of each branch. But, I wish I could see the look on some of your faces when you finally get a job back home and realize that wow, I actually have to grow up and be responsible.
And what does it say about a person who responds to that "I'm just here to have fun", people at my branch were toppatsuing a lot then they started to catch on that wow, when he/she toppatsus I get fucked on the schedule. And instead of returning the favour, people started to think about their co-workers and not toppatsu unless they ABSOLUTELY had to. That's the thing that shocks me the most. You hate AT/BT's fine. But how many times as an AT, I had to take away empty lessons on reg. instructor's schedules b/c their friend who they were out drinking with the night before couldn't get their arse out of bed so now they have to teach their lesson... can't even count. Who's the asshole now?
But whatever... can't make children grow up over night. If NOVA wants to do things illegally, that's their responsibility, all I know is there are a lot of students who payed an ASS load of money and want good lessons, so that's what I give them. And I use the time I'm not teaching to come up with new ideas, better ideas to keep them happy and myself interested. What's wrong with that? It's so simple. If nothing else you should respect that someone is paying you to constantly improve.
But fuck the students, who cares about them right? "I'm popular w all my students, I hang out with them outside work. ... We talk about how bad our AT is in VOICE." wow ... you've got it all figured out. I'm glad that I'm "popular" with the students because of the calibre of my lessons, not that I'm captain charisma. The staff told me "We have a scheduling problem... everyone wants to take your lessons!" And I'm sure there are a lot of other good teachers out there who realize that despite NOVA's failures as a company, we still owe it to ourselves to be professional. What a lame ass excuse, well NOVA didn't pay their taxes so I'm gonna be a shitty co-worker. And you know what, every time you toppatsu'd because well, you just felt like it... you were a shitty co-worker to somebody, and just as bad as NOVA for taking money from students and giving them such shitty service.
Grow up kids. Life - incoming.
First of all, I agree that
First of all, I agree that Nova is a terrible company with illegal practices. Also, a lot of ATs and BTs are useless.
Having said that, I'm just an instructor but I think it's funny that all these people are complaining about ATs and BTs like Nova is the only company in the world where people get shit managers. So, you don't like your manager? Who cares? Deal with it like an adult like the rest of the working population does. If you have the answers, get promoted yourself and do a better job. I have never met so many people who can't cope with the shit that people come across in everyday life. Can we start a "Now that I don't live at home I have to make my own bed " thread?
Oh really? A glass of wine
Oh really? A glass of wine with dinner, eh?
I'm surprised someone as old as you can use a computer keyboard.
Lucky you "used to be" an AT. If you still were, matey, you'd be sending posts from a completely different perspective.
Go and take your dog a walk.
The responsbility is on both sides....
This thread is typical of most Nova threads on the net, two people eventually taking shot at their opponents families, work values, social life, etc... I love it. Fight to the death.
Deliberately screwing off and being unprofessional is childish, stupid, and all the things mentioned above. But what many of the posters on Nova's side complaining about teacher's lack of professionalism are guilty of a greater crime. You forget that a company, no matter what position you're in, has an EQUAL responsibility to the employer. When teachers just say "aaah, despite Nova's complete disrespect of me as a person, a worker and treatment of the students I am still going to be professional and do my job right!" This kind of attitude is exactly what Nova management wants. Why? So they can walk all over you. They take advantage of teacher's higher professionalism and use them...just plain use them. This is what I am saying: teachers who exhibit the aforementioned personality trait are just as responsible for the work environment as Nova management is. Their complacency fosters this attitude of management to continue treating teachers as such.
(does it need to be said that I am talking about the average Nova employee and that I realize there are exceptions on both sides, or am I going to get attacked with a personal anecdote about your professionalism or some new graduate you met and did this and that blah blah blah)
And on more thing, please don't forget that "students" are people! I'm always hearing about teachers taking advantage of students like their animals. Their adults and make their own decisions. If they want to fuck a teacher then it is just as much on them as it is on the teacher or company.
I hate to agree, but I do...
6 months ago I would have disagreed with you but now....
I don't think that AT's are idiots they just get into a position where they have to make decisions. Usually, based on the selection criteria of, does he kiss management's ass? Are you malleable? They have trouble making decisions on their own. It's like AT's are closest to being Japanese...blindly following orders.
It's like AT's have an LMP injected into their brain during indoctrination training. All their decisions and reasoning seem scripted and not coming from the critical thinking section of their brain.
Nova doesn't want thinkers, Nova wants robots.
Nova and professionalism
When I first came to nova I was about 23 and came for a working holiday. I did some research and found out both Novas internet image and asked real people who had worked in Japan. I learnt it had a poor image as a company both for students and staff and staff treatment but was a safe bet as far as hiring and setting up placements. I enjoyed my time here for about 6 months and foolishly stayed 4 more becuse of the velvet rut syndrome.
My impression of a lot of older gaiji were wow shit you are bitter. The ATs i thought were just managers who made what was a basic job more complicated and uptight than it needed to be, but after working there for four years and seeing some of the clowns and bad hair days teachers I understand the double bind of Nova ATs - You can not fire someone unless they go over the line massively. And the students we got there were such a mixed bag that unfortunately included a really big bias towards oddness lots of mentally ill people (apparently eikaiwas are normal post treatment advice from Pyschologist here) and normal japanese anal retentiveness and keeping up appearances polite decorum eg there are no gay people in Japan in response and Japan is safety country after asking about the funny suited effeminate men who direct you to bars. Their job was damage control and like most people who actively seek a promotion they value hard work, authority figures and side perks of position and praise. But some lacked basic people skills.
the teachers well what do you expect from young or old people with no boundaries. Hell if nova wont sack you for being hungover fuck id go to work drunk everyday. the managers would ream you even if it was their mistake so I had no guilt reaming them back. Its what we call bad office culture.
On the topic of work ethic if you can save money, do what is required as a basic minimun and add a dash of decent human interaction into both your co workers and customer relationships good for you. however you do not have to apologise for a company that allows and fosters such poor work environments or accept them but to blame the other teachers for not having the same decorum is pretty sad. Being immature is the last avenue of protest for most people.
funny
I thinks its funny that people hate A.Ts so much. Most ATs let the sudden power assigned to them go to their head and can become prics...not all, but the vast majority.I can understand and have had experiences with arsshole a.ts......But hell , i never let that shit worry me...especially if i was only planning to stay for a year.
You get arsshole bosses in every Job, so all you guys who are going back to pursue a REAL career and think your not gonna have to put up with prics in the office and all types of bullshit situations....think again.
A.T.s, B.T.s & the rest of you "hard workers"
A.T.s, B.T.s & the rest of you "hard workers" are a delusional. You are a product in an English speaking factory. Sure some student’s have probably befriended you, when you leave a couple people pretend to be a bit sad, but incomes the next Aussie and they forget all about you.
The people in charge do completely change the schedule everyday so they don’t have to do shit. My AT teaches like 5 students a day. Four M to Ms, one 2 person lesson and of course his minimum two frees a day . (My day starts with 4 man, 4man 3man) He takes all the cute girls and the likely no shows. He’s a worthless fuck, nobody likes him. The staff hates him, but they tell him shit like, “all the students want to take your lessons”. Because if you haven’t notice, the staff are spineless and just love to kiss as much as the pathetic A.T.s.
So big deal if people TOPATSU. It means that guy might have to teach 8 whole lessons in one day. Look, I’m on time, I’m nice to students and coworkers, I don’t sabotage the branch, but some of these people do have a point. The management system is full of rejects. I don’t really care if the company fails. I just want to get paid until my contract finishes. You won’t get a head in life dedicating yourself to NOVA!
Last posts addressing NOVA's president personally.
I know your probably only venting, but it's useless. For one thing, he can't speak, read, or write a word of English, neither would he be checking out these articles. Why would he care about this stuff?
Of course, it's complete unreality to ever think he would get your message.
Another thing is, he's been "mysteriously" missing for months, that's why his faxes are no longer signed, and probably why his names spelled "Nozum", if you examine that more closely. Intentionally misspelled, I'd gather, to avoid liability and whatnot, since they are not even written nor sent from him. No one has a clue where he is!
However, I bet he's somewhere very remote, with a big fat bundle of cash, laughing at the mess he's left behind.
Heh... yeah, we're all lucky
Heh... yeah, we're all lucky to've heard this "perspective." I'm sure this individual, who in all likelyhood is just an AT or shit-stirrer, has done so many things to make Japan a better place.
What's a mother "toungue"?
What's a mother "toungue"?
People talk about how good their lessons are... What does that mean? You don't have lessons at Nova. Nova has lessons, which their talented textbook writers made, and you recite instructions verbatim from them. That's it. If you think your main contribution in the lessons is teaching, you are wrong. If students like your lessons, they actually just like YOU, your personality, and your charming conversation.
This is a good thing and you should be happy to get compliments like that, but please don't think that hard work and blood sweat and tears are why your students want your lessons. This is why both "clowns" and "serious guys" have anecdotes about how much they are loved. Everyone could just be lying about how popular they are, but more than likely it just shows that professionalism is completely irrelevant to how good of a "teacher" you are. Japanese staff choose good looking teachers to do demo lessons because they are good looking, and students are more likely to sign. They avoid giving demos to people who by accident of birth are not attractive if they think the student won't sign. This is how your value to the company is decided.
You know I agree with you to a point. Yet I also can see the other guys point. Yes indeed it is set up as a working holiday. Although remember there are two words there "working" and "holiday". Therefore it's not a simple hoilday like the other guy makes out. It's a bit of both and should be treated as such. If you're a BT/AT you should adjust your expectations accordingly for each person. Someone people wanted ot do a top class job and many did. Others wanted just to come in do their job and go home and have fun, that's OK as well, but don't expect anything amazing out of them. If they're doing an OK job then leave it at that. Of course there are some of those that just made an arse of things. No ability to meet the basic minimum, which to be fair isn't high. These are the ones I have no problem with people complaining about. Although to be fair that type was few and far between in my experience, but then maybe it's because I adjusted my expectations depending on the person I never got people working against me.
I'd also like to take point with your comment that your professionalism didn't begin and won't end with a paycheque. Now there is a difference between being professional and standing up for your basic right NOT to be a slave and TO BE paid! I don't agree with those who go to work and act unprofessionally, that's childish more than anything. Although, others like myself, have decided to quit and never go back. That's not unprofessional, that's just sensible!
Seriously what have people got against being 30, it's not exactly the end of the world! Many people start new careers at 40.
Buddy. You'll figure out,
Buddy. You'll figure out, probably when you're 30ish and getting laid-off from whatever job you get back home, that people are typically morons when they are 23.
Well put. Give a person
Well put. Give a person three days of "training" and you'll get an employee who realizes really quick that whatever they do doesn't really matter.
Ahh... I've had three ATs
Ahh...
I've had three ATs here in the last year. First one is suck a tool I actually have a photo of him giving head to another teacher who was wearing a giant Usagi costume at Karaoke. The next way a fat, useless Australian chick who wore the exact same thing to work everyday and gave herself all the frees. Now out AT is a great guy, just a normal teacher who is married so he had to take the "raise".
No wonder why I get all the
No wonder why I get all the demo lessons. Nice. Too bad most of the demos are with business men who smell of cigarettes and haven't brushed their teeth in months.
I feel sorry for him he's
I feel sorry for him he's married and works for NOVA. He'll never be able to afford to have kids. But he sounds like a good dude.
Mother Tongue
A lot of Japanese chicks love my "mother toungue".
HA HA HA HA!
What's the matter? Is your husband an employee of NOVA?
Ya married a broke loser, didn't yah?
Too bad
The poster above is
The poster above is correct.Nova lessons are designed for robots.I used to laugh how some teachers couldnt extend beyond the textbook. They were always saying what do you do with this?
Real teachers design and create their own lessons using their own materials.
Also what constitutes a popular teacher is hard to define. What is popular here is generally shit.
"It's called work ethic and integrity. "
Which Nova has not displayed. Whether it's cheating their students with their ILLEGAL refund or cooling off policy, their teachers with BS late deductions, overpriced apartments and ineffectual health insurance and the Japanese Government out of Health Insurance and Pension revenues. Bending the Labour Law just enough so that they could get away with myriad Human Rights violations. But you have work ethic and integrity. You have bushido. Congratulations, you can be the 48th ronin.
"I'd like to thank you, and all others who have actively played a roll (sic)in the demise of the company, and causing thousands others a great deal of stress."
Nova did that all by itself with the complicity of you and your ilk. They were the ones who set up the Ponzi scheme that was destined to fail. Like so many little Eichmanns, you never questioned it; rather, you jumped at the chance to catalogue and document every little infraction you could, didn't you? You liked re-assigning frees to your schedule, didn't you? It was fun to be the houseboy rather than the field slave. The sales staff did as they were told and strong armed trusting people into taking useless "lessons" designed by company bootlickers who never even taught a dog to sit up before, let alone English. I have seen a lot of good people get f*cked with for the most asinine things by so-called "professionals" while the latter let their little in-group get away with murder. Now that Nova reaps what it has sown you dare blame those who suffered Nova's contempt and disdain?
"The saddest part is... how long it will take you to grow up and realize there's more to life than getting drunk...Keep up the self-centered mentality. It'll serve you well in life."
As well as it served Saruhashi and his hand-picked litter of gaijin toadies. I recall my Nova interview; they were selling it like a paid vacation and what is more, those self-centred gaijin were SELECTED by Nova precisely for their naïveté and irresponsibilty.
You got some nerve lashing out. You have even bigger nerve fishing for sympathy. Now run along; I think I hear an instructor breathing in an unprofessional, non-Nova approved manner.
Who is to blame for them using good looking instructors? The staff that assign these particular instructors? Or the market that dictates this practice (Japanese students of English)? Who is to blame for the mentally ill students that made up the majority of students? The staff who sign them up, or the society that has not dealth with them?
Let us not blame NOVA for everything. Yes, the recruitment process is poor. I worked with too many imbeciles who called themselves teachers but they were more useless than a Gay rooster in a chicken farm. Yes, they won't sack these types and it makes the AT's job that extra bit harder. NOVA was not the perfect employer, but in all honesty, a lot more ethical than any company that I worked for in Australia and the USA. Do they deserve to go belly up? Well if they don't care about who they recruit, they don't care that they will go belly up.
My main gripe was with the students and their pathetic claims, which I had to deal with on a daily basis. Nothing about the teacher's teaching ability, but complaints about a teacher's glasses, a teacher who wanted to teach rather than chat to the student, the list goes on. Students who went to class and did not want to participate would complain that the teacher was scaring them when that was never the case.
I blame Japanese society for these problems, for not helping the mentally ill, rather than NOVA for at least trying to do something for them and make some money on the side.
The complaints are pathetic and this is why i cant understand why ATs report them all to the teacher.Being told your glasses are ugly or something is just pointless.Teachers should only be told if the complaint is very serious eg. sexual comments, innuendo involving animals etc.
These crappy complaints can be used against the instructor if they accept another contract.Without a doubt Nova students are the nuttiest.I havent got one single student in my school half as crazy as the nutters there.
I would like to ask a
I would like to ask a favour. Could all these people who are expressing so much disdain for Nova instructors abilities please start posting how their qualifications or jobs make them so much better? Everyone is so qick to pan these people but I'd like to see some evidence that supports your arrogant stances. You don't need to name any names of companies, just give us a general description. Then try to illustrate how this makes you superior. I'll start.
I work as a contracted web designer during the week. Nothing crazy, fun work and building up my resume. I also do a little part time teaching at a small school on weekends for some extra cash and frankly, I find it kind of fun and interesting.
The way this makes me superior to a Nova instructor is: NOT AT ALL!
What a surprise! The fact I have a degree in web design and a BA in English Lit in no way makes me better than a person who comes to Japan with a degree in toolbelt repair and teaches at nova.
Wake up, you cabbages! Your degree is not who you are. Your grand scheme to work for a year, fuck yourself stupid, get drunk nightly then head back home and magically turn into a "real carreer" mogul who marries the prom queen and drives a Lexus is NOT guaranteed. I plan to head home at the year end. Maybe I'll get that sweet job that lets me get fat on milk and honey, but who knows? None of us do. Stop judging people by the company they work for and start looking at yourself. Why are you so angry at people you have no knowledge of? Maybe its just easier for you to project all those things you know to be true about yourself onto others.
For a start otaku slug i can
For a start otaku slug i can use my teaching degree to get a teaching job back home. The majority of people who teach there have backgrounds in totally different fields so coming to Japan to teach is more damaging to them simply because it counts for nowt.In my case it still counts for not much but its the same line of work i have been doing since i was 22.Nova instructors are always saying what the hell am i going to do when i get home. They are hiding out here.At least in your case Devonshire Tease you are sticking to your career path.
The Slug Responds
An interesting point. So in your opinion, people who come here to take a break from their careers, or try something different, or even just rack up some cash, are wasting their time. Whereas you have gained experience that will catapult you to the top of an employer's list and ensure a long career with a fat gold watch at retirement. Uhh... no. Sorry, pal. You fell short.
Many instructors for Nova do have varied educational backgrounds. I've met some who were pilots, veteran high school teachers, ex-marines and even many with the same degree that you're so proudly waving. I even met one who was an air traffic controller. Of all those people, I never met one who said they had no plans after Nova. They ALL have plans. The goals and times they set are all different but very few are looking to stay in Japan, let alone Nova. Just because you choose to do something different than what your diploma "qualifies" you for, does not mean you are wasting your time. Some want to travel, some are taking a break from their careers, some are doing the very thing you claim to be working on. Don't mistake people being pissed about losing their salary with a lack of plans. Let's snatch 300 000 yen from your pocket and see how much grace you muster.
Unfortunately, your degree and "work experience" haven't improved your written skills or grammar. Do yourself a favour and find a friend who didn't sleep through Grade nine English class to give you a hand with that resume before you send it out, sport.
On a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest, I rate your arguement a low 2.
Next.
HaHa That is the funniest
HaHa That is the funniest most self-righteous argument ever. What a pompous prick you are.Next!haha Do u think this is life or death boy?I told you before this experience counts for nothing as far as my career goes and i accept it because i know i can get a teaching job easily.I dont give a toss about money. It comes and goes and has no bearing on anything i do.
Do you think i am checking my grammar here you wanker? Is there some official ranking or prize based on how well i articulate myself?
The fact is they dont have plans and are drifting along like turds in a sewage farm.
are you special?
To all those interlectuals out there..bagging guys that have chosen to make japan their home.....
1000 other people are holding the same degree as you!
So what makes you so special?
Annon, you aren't playing with a full deck
You may be a great teacher, but the fact is Nova CAN and HAS made up complaints against teachers in order to find an excuse to not renew their contracts. All the "complaints" about your teaching are BS, but just because YOU didn't get fired doesn't mean someone else hasn't. They PROBABLY like you. Nova is about popularity, not about actual teaching skills. I know this for a FACT because I sued them and won. One of the issues I sued them for were falsified complaints which the judge found to be bogus. Just because a teacher gets a complaint does NOT mean that they are not being professional. It USUALLY means Nova is being petty. My story is not unique. One teacher was actually told by her student that the staff were fishing for negative comments. STOP blaming the teachers for Nova's harassment. Not ALL of them deserve the lecture.
I had a Good Laugh, Too.
No, there is no prize for grammar. But there might be for a lucid point with some support rather than simply saying "they don't have plans". You've done nothing to improve your credibility. I agree with one thing you said. Maybe my last post was pompous. But the problem I have is when someone claims their superiority then just vents garbage. Just get over yourself, and come to grips with the fact that your anger is misplaced. Nova may have its share of tools, but that's true in many lines of work. And to say they don't have a plan is ridiculous. Why do you think the turnover rate for the company was always so high. 90% of the teachers leave after 2 years maximum. The only ones who stay longer usually have children in this country and are trying (were trying) for upper management. How can you honestly say these people have no plan when they have been leaving regularily? Do you really think they are just heading home and as we speak they're pining and moaning over what to do next? They have plans.
As to not caring about grammar, of course you shouldn't care too much. It's not life and death at all, but it does have a bearing on the strength of your points. And so far your points are about as strong as an alchoholic's claim that he can quit whenever he wants.
It's an on-line post. Mistakes are to be expected. But take a look at your previous post and think of how well that goes with a degree in education. Come on, man. You can't blame me for zinging you. "it still counts for not much" "it counts for nowt." (lol, I loved that one) The fear your pronoun "I" seems to have of the uppercase. And the general tone of it was right up there with a "Down by the River" rant from Farley. Don't do it for me. You and I are nothing to each other. But when you make a boast that specifically targets your Degree in Education as the reason for your superiority over someone else, you should at least try to sound like it didn't come mail order from the back of an Archie and Jughead comic.
STILL NOT PAID!!
I'm an AT at Yamashina in Kyoto... just been to the bank and what should I find?? The same 400yen thats been there for the last 10 days. Spoke to Personnel who said they have no further info and pay "could" go in later today. Have had to Toppatsu as I can no longer afford to get to work and I really don't think I should have to borrow from friends to get there.
Anybody else paid or not today?
Staff Pay
Weren't the staff due to be paid yesterday?
If so - What is there status
Oops
What is their status
Did some say Toppatsu??
I swear this is the funniest thing I have lived trough. All the flaming and hatred for each other. The real fun is in the consistency of bad grammar and ill conceived ideas which people spread about so liberally, but, here you go...
www.myspace.com/toppatsu
Check out the song 'emanuel swapmeet'
and tell your boss to shove it!
Let's hope ATs get paid today, and staff gets it on the 27th. Lot's of good people have been coming up short... some bad people too :)
Good info but slightly
Good info but slightly wrong. Nova only has about 5000 Foreign staff in total. The majority of which, I've heard, are Australian but certainly not all of them.
Its pretty funny here watcing everybody get stuck into each other, complaining about ATs, crap teachers, good teachers, you suck - no you suck!
Remember Nova (the secret mysterious upper management) have screwed us all, They are the ones who put in place a;; the policies, plans and practices that have led us to this point. That point being FUCKED.
In case you havent noticed, the previous post from the AT said he still has not been paid as promised (25th)
Lets get back to sharing information, trying to help each land on two feet when this monstrosity stops teetering and finally topples over crashes. Its not going to wind up nice and quietly, more like a chaotic circus with teachers staff and students being screwed while the top guys dust themselves off and start on something new.
Hey guys,
I was a NOVA teacher for two years. I'm not going to get into any arguments about how fun/bad it was, but just want all of you guys still working to read this article from the Japan Times. Basically, anyone inspired by Monkeybridge's fax last weekend shouldn't put too much into it. It's more or less a ploy to keep you guys working. As you can see, it's 1:20 on the 25th and people still haven't been paid. There's more likely to be a fax saying they're pushing back salaries again than your actual paycheck going through. Good luck everyone.
http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fl20070925zg.html
Found this. This is unsurprisingly my first time through this kind of sage but the information and comments made seem very true to me (No doubt many idiots will disagree and pan me for it but hey ho)
http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fl20070925zg.html
P.S. 13.30 - still no cash
Did people get paid today?
Does anyone know if Nova came through with payment of people's salaries today? It's after 15:45 now.
Please provide an update to the rest of us if you are able. I'm sure everyone would like to know if Nova made good on their promise or failed to pay employees again. Especially since some of us are making big decisions based on what's posted here. With headlines now in NZ, AU, CA and JP....
Thanks in advance.
Just read the forums, so
Just read the forums, so I'll answer my own question. People who were supposed to get paid today did not get paid. "Promised" tomorrow. According to the forums, it's the fourth time pay has been delayed.
http://www.letsjapan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=254781&postdays=0&postord...
I saw a staff member crying because a student had demanded, quite forcefully, a refund on his tickets.....
The same staff member had assured me, with a smile, NOVA woudnt go bankrupt!
If Sahashi hasnt paid today......get a black tie
I read the Japan Times article today... Does anyone know anything about the workers' unions, like Nambu? How much are their membership dues, and what do you have to do to join? Better safe than sorry, I suppose...
http://www.generalunion.org/
http://www.generalunion.org/ has instructions....but good luck getting anything done, their webpage hasnt been updated in a while.
Anonymous2 to Anonymous
I'm an ex-NOVA guy in my 20's. Anonymous, you need to cool down and trim the ego, OK? I hold a much better degree than you do. Most people on Earth are not smart enough to get my degree, even if they wanted it. Nearly anybody can get a teaching degree (trust me, I've seen ANYBODY get a teaching degree). I left NOVA after 6 months, but once I tried life here, I liked it, and my plans changed. I now have a different job in Japan. I make more money than when I was at NOVA, and I don't even work half of the days in a year (quite a lot less, actually). I spend much of my time either traveling the world or planning my next trip. I don't brag about it nearly as much as you brag about your "excellent" qualifications and plans on this forum, and I certainly don't use it to insult other people. I understand teachers in Western countries really live the high-life, is that right? I'm glad you've got such a great career plan that you need to rub in other people's faces. It confuses me why you brag about your future career and how great it is, but "don't give a toss" about money. You're talking BS, and everybody knows it.
Everybody has their own reasons for doing the NOVA gig, some just want to see the world. It's good for them. And most of them have plans for afterwards.
The initial reason that I left NOVA was the quality of human beings that some of my co-workers were. Drunk, lazy, foul-mouthed, incompetent, helpless, dirty, little jerks. They might think they're cool, but that's only the I'm-just-out-of-school attitude. You'll find out in just a few years that these people were losers. Just three of them managed to make the job unbearable, even though the rest of the staff were cool, just paying their debts and stuff.
You are pathetic
First of all, I became AT because of hard work. I was also well respected by my co-workers (admin staff and other teachers). In my branch, we all worked as a team. Perhaps you people that complain about your AT have never done a single days work in your life and have no concept of teamwork. It is a 2 way street. You people are no better than a gay rooster in a chicken farm.
Secondly, it is you who would have a problem in Australia where arse lickers and backstabbers get all the promotions. At NOVA, you simply show maturity and act responsibly and you get promoted.
Thirdly, I can let you in on some AT secrets. A "stupid" complaint will not lose you your job or a payrise. ATs know the difference between a legitimate complaint and a bullshit complaint and will act accordingly. There was a student who was stalking one of my teachers and would make some pathetic complaints about him. Was he affected by the comments? Not at all because he was a good teacher. What type of people do you think ATs are to accuse us off plotting and spying? Then again, if the company employers imbeciles like the majority that post crap in here, I guess some moron ATs would also be hired.
Goodness knows what goes on in other branches. I am glad the branches in Shikoku were so well managed.
By the way, in my branch, we had a policy whereby everyone should have to do equal number of students. An AT or a co-ordinator who was behind in their duties would be given precedence when free lessons were available. These ridiculous allegations that ATs will get 6 frees a day is a pathetic lie. The only time that happened is when a typhoon hit Shikoku and guess what, all teachers would have 6 frees. You will need to work or risk getting sacked by your boss. Something that NOVA never did to those who deserved it.
You bludgers need to get off your high horses and grow up because when you go home to Australia, USA, or wherever the hell you come from, you will be hit with a cruel reality check.
Stop crying you little
Stop crying you little girl.
If you are unprofessional (which you very much sound like) then you are the hypocrit. What kind of employee can bemoan being punished for being late and incompetent. No different to old monkey bridge if you ask me.
I tell you, when you return to your home country, see how many cpmplaints you can accrue in the workplace and have a contract extension.
If any NOVA teachers are surprised by this state they are dummer than the average.
No pay today. They really
No pay today. They really are pricks.
Pot calls, demands apology from kettle

Wow. Way to use bragging as a deterrent for, uh, bragging. How's that working for you? When you're not travelling around the world, of course.
You bunch of dogs.Hope you
You bunch of dogs.Hope you get evicted!Didnt get paid and still hanging on to the company. Most people on Earth are not smart enough...u Nova whore. What an arrogant self-serving piece of crap.Go down in flames you money-grabbing sacks of shit especilly all those gay ATs that work in the Sakai area.
Y'know, Gen Y, it's not suprising
that you can't even think of a world that doesnt revolve around money, toys and stuff. You might even wake up one day. Ah, money, you gotta love it, right?
Pardon the directness, but FUCK I hate Gen Y. Just go into a corner and masturbate to death already. Oh, sorry, YOU ARE ALREADY!
Don't worry, the Goddess forgives you.
BUT I DON'T!!!
I'm using it NOW because he
I'm using it NOW because he asked for it. Gotta shoot him down and show him that he's not as great as he thinks. I've never seen anybody talk so much trash because he has a TEACHING degree. He thinks he's a god. So I'll cut him down.
Trust me, I don't do this in my daily life.
Argh
You totally missed the point, didn't you? I gave up more money to work less. I gave away nearly all of my possessions so that I can travel the world in freedom. Money plays relatively little role in my life.
You're still talking trash. If you don't need money, then why bash people about their career choice? Why not go volunteer in Cambodia? Is it because they wouldn't be able to stand hearing about your amazing TEACHING degree every day? If you truly don't care about money, let's see you do some good with your life!
Again, I've never, ever heard of somebody talking so much trash to other people because he has a TEACHING degree. Those things are a dime a dozen, and perhaps you know it.
Are you special, Anonymous?
In fact, I'd be willing to suggest that there's nothing special about you at all. So cut the trash!
I meant no offense to
I meant no offense to anybody else.
Or is the problem that you
Or is the problem that you grew up in some Jerry Springer-esque trailer park, and a TEACHING degree is the greatest accomplishment that anybody you know has ever achieved? In that case, congratulations, but in the real world, it isn't viewed as so much of an accomplishment. You can surround yourself with NOVA teachers, who I've found are not the most ambitious of people, to make yourself feel good, but once you get outside of NOVA, you're just a trash-talker with a TEACHING degree.
And this time, please try to
And this time, please try to respond with something more intelligent than "Go masturbate" or "Fuck I hate you people". My degree taught me to be more intelligent than that. Did yours? I'd expect better from somebody with a TEACHING degree.
Better yet, don't respond at all and leave these people in peace during a difficult time.
I don't work for NOVA
I don't work for NOVA anymore. I've already explained myself a few posts above this one. Please have a look (there are two separate threads, but they're right next to each other). I didn't mean any offense to anybody except that prick who's trying to make everyone else feel like shit because of his awesome TEACHING degree. I'm cutting the arrogant boy down.
I humbly apologise if anybody else took offense. Really. If we had met in person, you wouldn't hear anything it unless you asked. It's mostly a part of my life that I've forgotten about, but I recall it for just such occasions.
If you want me to stop and go away, I can. But this guy is running all over you people, and all your pleas for civility and respect are getting is more trash talk. Don't you know how to put a bully in his place? Degrade him and show him that you're better than him at whatever it is he's bullying you about.
Look what happened. All he could respond to my comments with was a completely incoherent string of insults such as, "i fucking hate you", and "go masturbate". If he opens his mouth (keyboard) again, he'll just make more of an ass of himself.
HA HA HA!!! STILL NOT PAID!!!
Well, well, well...we've come full circle, haven't we? And I'll bet you thought you were hot $hit when whatever jagoff AAM you had offered you the BT spot. Alienated your friends? Ratted on your old co-workers? Whatever you did to make those in Head Office decide to offer you that despicable position, it couldn't have been anything respectable.
Today, all the folks you pissed on got paid, and you're holding your nuts, hoping that NOVA won't abandon you...kinda like a desperate puppy, hoping for a quick suck on the master's teat.
Was it worth it, pal? You still feel like the big man? Better than everyone else? Wha-chu gon' do with all dem' shiny suits you dun' bought cuz you thoght you wuz movin' up in da world? You know...those $hitty, 2-man-en pinstripe suits from that $hitty wholesale store? Maybe a cheapass faux-leather briefcase to go with it?
"Block Trainer," what a f*cking joke that is. You should've "trained" yourself to go out and find a real f*cking job.
I piss on every one of you. Oh, and I have a better job than you! A-hyuck!
Have a great week, folks!!
If you are talking about
If you are talking about Sakai, Osaka I happen to know 3 of the 4 Sakai ATs (Sakai Higashi, Sakai, Suminoe Koen and Otori) and they are just about the best ATs going around. And no I am not one of them. So maybe you are mistaken in your judgement, or hopefully talking about another area.
