Osaka Bound

I'm looking for a list of schools approved by otherpeople that work or have worked there in order to avoid falling in a shit hole.

Indeed there are shit bosses not only in Osaka or Tokyo, but all over the place. However, this has to do more with the students. I'm tired of teaching ROBOTS, that answer "I'M FAIN ZANKYU, HOW AAA YU ? With a voice that sounds like the"LOST IN SPACE" T.V. series (completely emotionless). With a very little number of exceptions, MOST of the people I've met in Tokyo are cold, poker faced, samurai-about-to-commit-seppuku attitude compared with the "Osakans" which are more of a friendly happy lot; however I don't want to generalize and say a mistaken "ALL TOKYOITES...." since that's precisely the stupidity which makes so many apartment owners to say:"PETO DAME, GAIJIN DAME" (No pets,No foreigners).

Besides, I'm very interested in learning Osaka dialect, since this makes an excellent "Ice-breaker" and forces the most "steel-masked" Japanese to smile, except for a few that have actually got plastic surgery so as not to show any hint of happiness in their faces whatsoever. Every time I go to Kansai, people act friendly and are not afraid of giving their English a try or joking about my terrible Japanese IN MY FACE good-heartedly. That has never happened to me in Tokyo, is like comparing people from Toronto and people from Vancouver, it doesn't take a genius to find out the difference in attitudes. Or what about NYC and Miami? Maybe if we have a list of schools available we can boycott those bad ones which after all, won't be able to make any business without us, the gaijin.

We are not perfect, but we are more open minded.

Chris responds to this with: I recommend "English Studio" in Ebisu for their outstanding children's' curriculum. I'd also like to recommend Britannica (sp?) for their very open minded approach to teaching: they allow a teacher to teach by his strengths, not by some rote formula of presentation, practice, production. If you are an actor, teach by role play, if you are a musician, teach with songs/lyrics/jazz chants (shudder), if you are an engineer, teach by structure, etc, etc, etc. Although I never worked at these schools I would have liked to.
