WOW, this is the first time I've seen anything other than NOVA bashing on this site for awhile. Refreshing!!!
Well, we don't have to let up on NOVA whilst having fun with this theme. I'll never forget the NOVA kids promotional video that ends with a booming, "let's join us!" with accompanying caption in big letters.
Does anyone know who did the voice-over for that? Wonder how hard he fought before agreeing to say that phrase? I can't bear to think those were his words...
i dont know how some people can look at themselves in the mirror after being handed those scripts.
I still want to track down one of those colossal fuck-up "Crucified Santa" statues that Takashimaya made for their first Christmas sales....

how many foreign languages are YOU able to speak?
I think most native speakers of English are too ignorant (or too stupid) to learn or to handle a foreign language.

the other day one of my junior high students wore a shirt that had embroidered in cursive in large font across the back, "I'm built like a brick shithouse!" The English was actually correct but the phrase was just hilarious. I actually took a picture of it. Any way to post it up here?

Isn't there a 'worth' at the end as well? As in 'my 2 cents worth?'. I make a mess of idioms and proverbs etc all the time.

I learned Latin many years in school, but I cannot speak one sentence. Also my teachers couldn`t speak that dead language.
G-Communication/NOVA Planning to Increase Schools 5 Fold

G-Communication, a Nagoya-based company who took over the operation of NOVA, a major English language school which had gone bankrupt, disclosed on the 21st, a plan to increase the ex-NOVA schools from 195 (as of the end of March this year) to 975 by the end of March next year - 5 fold in one year. They are aiming to introduce a franchise system and mini-schools to expand the operation nationwide. Masaki Inayoshi, the Chairman and President of G-Communication group revealed the plan to the Asahi Shimbun. G-Communication announced in November last year, when the business transfer of NOVA to G-Com was decided, that they will re-open 200 schools, out of 670 at the time of bankruptcy, by May this year. 195 schools nationwide were opened by the end of March, including the mini-schools, where the lessons are provided by video calls over the internet.
Although NOVA schools used to be run directly, G-Com introduced the franchise (FC) system in April, with new schools in Aichi, Chiba, Kanagawa and other prefectures. They now plan to open new FC schools in Osaka this month. The plan is by the end of March to open approximately 250 FC schools, 240 schools annexed to cram schools providing private lessons to school children, and 290 mini-schools, where the teachers are not permanently placed.
As of the end of March, there are 1024 foreign teachers employed by G- Com. In order to secure sufficient teachers with the increased number of schools, they are planning to employ some teachers from the list of 20,000 ex-NOVA teachers, as well as opening recruitment offices in the US, Australia and Ireland within this year. Nova made a picture dictionary which spelled "lobster" as "robster". The illustrations of vomiting and diarrhea made one wonder whose junior high son was hired to draw them.
If you've got time to learn a foreign language, you really haven't got much to say in your own language.
Not sure who said that, but there are probably a few exceptions, such as James Fallows.

Too true but those ignorants would not claim to be a professional language teaching institution and would ask for and take the advice of someone in the know if they were to advertise in another language.
