Australian Foreign Minister: Nova Will Fall Over

As reported in the The Age, Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer quipped that Nova is doomed:

However, Mr Downer said on Friday that although the company had not "completely fallen over yet", it would "fall over", leaving 1,300 Australians financially stranded in a "very expensive" country.

"We'll provide them with consular assistance if they need it," he told ABC radio. "If they get into real personal difficulties, then we'll obviously help them out.

There goes the supply of teachers from Australia. It is heartening to know, however, that Australia intends to assist its citizens.

curious-- what exactly does 'consular assistance' actually entail? serious question..

A carton of VB, a pack of meat pies, 2 virgin geishas and a ticket home...

All operating branches and the MM have received word from Baboonface mothaf*ka that NO INSTRUCTORS will be paid on time. No branch instructors, no MM instructors, NOBODY WILL BE PAID on october 15th.

I am British. O British government, where art thou?

i called the consulate almost 2 months ago, the "consular assistance" is helping you get in contact with family members who can assist you. they are not responsible for giving australians financial assistance, they will pay for a few calls home if you can get yourself to kyobashi though.

I just have to say this, Downer is such a pussy. He was born with a siver cutlery set in has mouth. He thinks Japan is expensive? That's cause he only stays in 5 star hotels.

The question now is will he be out of the Foreign Ministers job before we are out of ours? I have 50 yen on us first, Downer in close second, any takers?

I noticed that "expensive" comment as well. Been back in Australia 1 year. The price of 1 Litre Lipton Iced Tea is $3.50. In Japan, it was 118 yen. Not to mention that the Aussie dollar is stronger. Tell me Downer, which country is most expensive? No wonder Liberal will lose the election. Go Rudd! If it wasn't for the Liberals, you wouldn't have so many Aussies looking overseas for opportunities. The fact that NOVA with its shoddy business practices attract so many Aussies, tell people about Australian workplace conditions. Little wnder Aussies in NOVA complain less than the Yanks and Canucks.

I heard the British Consulate is offering tea and scones for any Nova employees who are from England and lose their jobs....
