Watch as Tetsushi Yanagida, a TV personality with TV Miyazaki, dives head first into a rice paddy and snaps his neck during a live broadcast. Ironically, he wasn't supposed to take part in the event. If his co-workers had joked around any longer, he may have drown in the mud.
According to a note on the Jaga Jaga Tengoku corner of the TV Miyazaki website, Yanagida is recuperating and expected to be released from intensive care this week.

I don't even know where to begin with this.
Horrible. Stupidity mixed with a complete absence of any form of common sense.
A shining example of some of the worst parts of Japan.
Hope the poor bloke is ok. They could have paralysed him moving him around like that.
They say it all comes down to the gene pool. Albeit a very muddied one in this instance.
And a pretty shallow one at that!
What a bunch of morons. Diving into ankle deep water headfirst is asking to be Darwined.
???Which correspondance with Debunking Eikaiwa??????
I am wondering this forum's big titles are so pertinent now.
Hi guys! regular reader of this site and thought maybe some of you would like this zombie movie i made the other day in Hokkaido...comments welcomed!

To the guy wondering what this has to do with Nova and debunking Eikaiwas, it has nothing to do with it, but rather it is Japanese culturally related, so it fits for this site. I have been out of Japan for about 3 months now, and as a former employee of Nova, I come back to this website a couple times a week to see what is new with everything. But everday can't be about Nova and the schools over there. There is just not enough news. I love this site, because when something does happen, it gets to it right away. Other times, I enjoy (although this video was seriously morbid) the blogs on this site.
About this video, that shit is unbelievable. I can't believe the guy was stupid enough to attempt something like that. I guess I can kinda understand why the other people didn't react right away though, Japanese TV is all about mimicking being seriously injured. Guess they thought he was joking around.
But..the JTV shows such degenerated freaks everyday, no?
I want to keep Letsjapan my oxygen.. the "Debunking eikaiwa"'s show must go on!
Shocking beyond belief, and confirmation that most Japanese are oblivious to commonsense and the apparent dangers of the outdoors. Hmm reminds me of one of Australia's better movies named Japanese Story, where a married sarariman is out in the desert shagging Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine, The Sixth Sense ect) and one day for a laugh dives into a shallow pool or billabong head first... don't want to ruin the plot though! Poor bugger.
Whatever guys. People are talking as if they would've have been dialing 911 and giving CPR the second he hit the water.
To think that something like this -getting hurt playing a stupid game- is unique to Japan must have been breast fed until they were 9.
Nah, that's just fuckin off. Still, as someone said, J TV is full of fake hurt/scared/surprised scenes so it's not really the other peoples fault they thought it wasn't real. And he shouldn't have put his head down, that's just fuckin' stupid.
