GEOS Ireland Manager Awarded €30k Compensation

This is for you GEOS fanatics that can't get enough of the defunct school:

A JAPANESE-owned English language school has been ordered to pay one of its managers compensation of €30,000 and to increase her salary in line with that of a male counterpart.

The school, trading as GEOS Ireland, was found to have discriminated against Nerea Medrano on a number of grounds, including gender and family status.

The company that runs the Dublin-based school was also found to have harassed Ms Medrano on grounds of gender and family status and for this she was awarded €30,000 in compensation.

What I don't understand is why the GEOS chief executive in question is only referred to as "Mr. K." This has to be Tsuneo Kusunoki. Why obscure his identity? Or was this information not in the actual published claim? Although the tribunal has ordered compensation to be paid, will the manager see any of the money?

Can't get enough of it, despite not having worked there since '99. Fucking loved it. The chicks, oh man the chicks! I drained my testicles dry. Thankyou GEOS I love you forever!!!!

Next up, GEOS Canada. All the woman know what I mean. Time for some compensation for the crap we were put through at GEOS Canada.

There are many Canadian government agencies that will assist in this. it really is not that hard. Go for it!

In a week or two, the full text of this decision should be available here:

It is likely that the hearing report will provide a useful insight into the company's working and it's then culture.

The syntax and vocab of the report may, unfortunately, challenge some of LJ's current posters. Luckily, if they need any help with the big words, they only have to ask.

More and more "private" info about GEOS will be exposed. It is only a matter of time before the sleuths put the pieces together and join the dots.

There is lots to know, boys and girls. Keep digging.

......you know what? It's taking time but maybe the i's are being dotted and the t's are being crossed and maybe the chickens are beginning to come home to roost.

10:38 You are absolutely right. Hopefully we see it sooner than later. Maybe that is why caertain people are starting to trasnition out of their normal positions. Scared, perhaps?

There's at least one delightful lady working up there in a lovely big building on Elgin Street in Ottawa who would sensibly be keeping a watching brief on these NZ and Irish happenings.

I can imagine the lady on Elgin is smiling, too. Better yet, she should be putting in her papers to get her own settlement.

Best of luck. ;-)

....if she don't. Up to her though.

I, as well as many others, encourage her to go after it. A couple of woman who worked for GEOS NA have pretty substantiated claims they can make for settlement. Go for it!

To all the woman screwed over by GEOS Canada or U.S., go get what you are entitled to! Especially for Canada, because if a Commonwealth country gives out an award like this there is a good chance you will be awarded as such given the similarities in equal rights offices and laws.

Maybe some of the woman who worked at GEOS should post their horrow stories of how they were treated from the monkeys at the top. Would love to hear from you.

Ditto 4:37. Go after what you deserve. GEOS Ireland payoout is one example that the chickens do come home to roost.

Dave Page, the executive guy who got the NZ decision against the company, was awarded $190,000.

GEOS takes another hit!

Great see that he was awarded so much. That and the Irreland manager. Next up, Canada and maybe one or two in the U.S.

Keep up the efforts against corrupt GEOS!!!

Great to see real info on this thread and GEOS getting taken down in yet another country.

Now that GEOS has been taken down in two countries, will there be any other countries that people go after them? Seriously, Australia must be ripe for lawsuits against GEOS. I am sure they are just digging through the paper trail.

Great to see some payouts coming out against GEOS. Another loss for them.

If anyone here's any other details as the equality commission renders its full transcript, please post here. And if anyone knows exactly how Special K will be made to pay this (where is he now?), post too. Very interesting.................

The transcript will be very enlightening and might ruffle a few feathers on here in what and WHO it exposes. Hope someone throws up a copy of the juicy details on Let's Japan for all to see. Names will be named and actions will be exposed. Another piece in the sad GEOS puzzle will be uncovered.

The NZ crowd who took over the company there appear to have been saddled with the responsibility of funding the judgement. Late last year (Sept?) they got a bit of stay on payment. In their submission to the courts they apparently said that the sum was beyond their capacity. Not sure what the Irish set-up will be.

I can imagine something similar, although I'm surprised GEOS even had an Irish operation, let alone one that hasn't gone bust and been bought out. Maybe Kusanoki can use some of the cash he got from the GEOS NA sale to pay the tab on this one, if it hasn't already been blown on pachinko, shabu shabu and Russian hookers.

P.S. Glad it's necessary now to register and log in to post comments.

So, LJ is back in business as usual? GoodOh! Not going to be posting much from here though until it's entirely clear as to what has been/is going on :-)
