The Mainichi Daily News has published another interview with Sahashi. What is this man trying to prove? That's he's really not to blame and that everything he did was in the best interest of Nova and its employees? If he's so sure he's right, why not appear in public and explaining himself for starters? This latest interview makes more petulant than anything else. He does his best to explain away the allegations made against him and paint himself as the victim in all this. Here are few choice quotes:
"I'm being set up as the bad guy," he says. "I didn't take a single day off from April as I went around busting my guts to try and get NOVA to rebuild under its own steam. I stopped taking a wage myself from July. If what's going on now hadn't happened, I thought I would have been able to get 10 billion yen to get the company back on track. (After I was sacked), there was this sudden liberation from the difficulties of trying to collect money and my mind is still a blur. I still haven't thought about what I'm going to do from now."
He's the victim? That's how it works when you don't pay your employees, rip off your customers, and abandon the company during its greatest crisis? Even if he came up with the ¥10 billion yen, it's doubtful the money would this have kept Nova afloat for very long. The money would have bought Nova some time--maybe enough time for Sahashi make another deal-- but it would have done nothing to address Nova's deeper problems with its broken business model and crushing demand for refunds.
"The double bed wasn't for private use, but used as a guest room for visiting VIPs. It was mainly for guests from overseas. Some people are saying it was suspicious because the bed had two pillows, but hotel beds nowadays all have two pillows. This wasn't the President's Office. Within the company, we used to call it the 'Business Center,' " Sahashi says.
This is comedy gold. Hotels use two pillows so why can't I? The Shukan Diamond quotes him as saying it was a model room to demonstrate a lifestyle using the Ginganet videophone. Which is it?
Sahashi becomes furious when discussion shifts to the G.education group that has bought out NOVA.
"I can't get it out of my mind that what happened was a planned raid," he said, each word hissed out with seething anger as he goes on to give his side of NOVA's collapse.
Everyone is out to get him. Never mind that the mountain of consumer complaints against Nova and the Supreme Court decision that forced METI to do something. If only the consumers had shut up and not complained, Nova wouldn't be in this mess.
"I have a large responsibility to bear and I sometimes feel like hanging my head in shame. Of course, bearing the ultimate responsibility, I feel absolutely terrible about what has happened to students and staff," Sahashi says, but he is less forthcoming when asked if he plans to front the media to apologize publicly. "Do you think I'll be able to finish everything just by fronting a news conference and saying 'Sorry?' 'Responsibility' for me means the responsibility to rebuild NOVA. How do the directors who proposed the takeover plan to take responsibility? They deserve to die 10,000 deaths!"
At last, something that rings true. He is responsible, but so is his board of directors, even if they didn't wield much power. They need to be held accountable as well.

I actually believe him
I believe him, in the sense that I think he's completely deluded and believes in the lies himself. Much like Horie and Livedoor, he'll go down, but just won't ever admit he's wrong, because he just doesn't believe he is.
Not to blame?
Hmm ... seems like he considers everyone else to have been in the wrong, and himself to have been in the right. I'm sure 2,000 *former* Japanese staff plus 4,000 *former* instructors plus 300,000 odd *former* students plus the 900 odd *former* office landlords plus the God-knows-how-many-*former* apartment landlords plus the *former* advertising companies, all of whom are owed *former* salaries and *former* paid holidays and *former* paid lessons and *former* rents and *former* payments, are more than willing to allow this *former* president to have his *former* -presidential opinion.
I've got a little phrase, and I hope he can guess what it really means: "Mother-*forming*-*former*-*form*face. Now *form* off and die. *Former*."
Nice one...
LoL
Wait a minute
Where is the monkeymans freed slave...Former HT? We cant make any further comments until he has said something "intelligent" (defensive)
Kawaiiso?

This guy is amazing he spends most of the article playing the victim, spending alot of time going into detail about how he's been back stabbed, how conspirators have set him up as the fall guy. How he was just on the brink of being able to turn everything around. Meanwhile he goes into hiding, leaving thousands of staff and creditors out of pocket.
"There are signs that three directors had determined in advance that Oct. 26 would be D-Day, where the president would be fired and NOVA would apply for court protection. Even after I had submitted plans to merge schools and come up with money, the directors just ignored those plans and bought time until D-Day came around," Sahashi says. "It takes time to apply for court protection from creditors. There's a mountain of paperwork involved. It's impossible to just suddenly make an application. NOVA's lawyers made the application and I was unaware of what was going on. That's a breach of trust."

"IT took time" to get to the stage we're at, and he has the gall to sit there feeling betrayed.
The Directors have a large responsibility in all of this, and there is a whole bunch of smoke and mirrors going on, to try and muddy the waters. Nobody in the upper echelons of NOVA has acted with integrity. The decision to "remove" him, once NOVA was unable to offer services, give refunds, pay rent, or pay any of its staff, is a tad late, most would agree.
This guy is a sociopath, and "his" directors should be brought to book, along with him.
Anders, kill two birds with one stone, and get youself finger printed at customs, to avoid the hassle of having to do it when you get called to account for all the monkey business thats gone on.
The man is a snake...
Look all, the man is a reptilian being. A lizard, a snake in the grass... A pest that needs to be eradicated and he needs to, as with Horiemon, disappear and never be heard from again...
There needs to be a criminal trial for fraud and deception his personal assets need to be seized and that money put toward either the remaining 20 percent of unpaid staff and instructor salaries or student refunds...
Oh, and what a steaming pile of crap about the double bed...
Sahashi had a good idea
"...I sometimes feel like hanging my head in shame"
Yes! Please HANG your head! Even though I wasn't paid for my last couple of months work I am still willing to buy the rope!
Oh yeah, who deserves to die 10,000 deaths???
GinGanet Director and 2 of
GinGanet Director and 2 of its administrator have been fired yesterday. Current Nova's administration has taken control of this company and aims to reopen MM center ASP.

Waiting for fomer HT's comments
Oh where are the comments of the former HT?? Isn't he just dying to defend Sahashi?? Please please make yourself susceptible to numerous criticisms by saying stupid things in trying to defend Sahashi.

Pathogenic Prevaricator

These are the desperate tactics of a desperate man. Despite his bravado, his only true intention at this point is to not go to prison. His verbal gymnastics are meant only to keep the hounds at bay and to hopefully have the spotlight thrown on others, or at least implicate them.
I agree with MrGrumpy. He's so deluded that he truly believes what he's saying. Repeat a lie often enough and in your mind it becomes true. I don't think anyone, a reporter, a lawyer, a judge, TV....will ever get him to admit any wrongdoing, no matter what the threat. His mind is gone.
At first his demeanor made me angry. Then it became almost comical. Now, it's just pathetic and sad. This man needs to be put down like a wounded animal. Someone, please, put him, and us, out of his "imagined" misery.
BACK TO WORK
Can anyone actually give an account of returning to work for G.Ed or being offered a contract yet. Can we turn our attention to the present and stop dwelling on this fuckhead Sahashi.
Many of us are still hanging in there as savings dwindle. I just want to earn some money but I am hearing nothing right now. Are we actually being paid by anyone at the moment??
Sahashi is not really Japanese
Sahashi must be 2nd generation Korean.
If he had real Samurai blood running thru his veins, then he would have already killed himself.ねー!
My final post
I want to first point out some people here are posting using my name, my fault as I never formally registered here. Doesn't anyone get the point? It doesn't matter for squat that it would not be out of character for Anders and the J press to mold your little minds and have you see the situation not as it is, but as they want you to see it. What's far more relevant is that he chooses to ignore the fact that they cling to any argument or principle, however scary or adversarial, that appears to support their excuses. Here's the story: You all and I disagree about our civic duties. I think that we must do our utmost to identify, challenge, defy, disrupt, and, finally, destroy the institution that was Nova ,that deflect attention from Anders's unwillingness to support policies that benefit the average jerkoff instructor as expeditiously as possible. Anders, on the other hand, believes that coercion in the name of expansion is a valid use of state power. Small minds are little troubled by this. Surprisingly, the courts and our elected officials are way ahead of him in embracing this simple fact- Saruhashi was used.. Let me close by reminding you that there is no compelling moral or economic reason why Anders should blame your unemployment problem on handy scapegoats like Saruhashi
Now, although I generally believe that the less said about G Comm, the better, I do feel obligated to say a few things about G Comm's despicable actions in taking advantage of Saruhashis situation. With this post, I hope to place a high value on honor and self-respect. But first, I would like to make the following remark: It is immature and stupid of G Comm to leave us in the lurch. It would be mature and intelligent, however, to anneal discourse with honesty, clear thinking, and a sense of moral good, and that's why I say that its equivocations provide a vivid example of how in order to beat it at its own game, tremendous sacrifices and equally great labors will be necessary. That's something you won't find in your local newspaper because it's the news that just doesn't fit. G Comm's obloquies are not on the up and up. The same holds true for slaphappy smut peddlers. Some will say I exaggerate, but, actually, I'm being quite lenient. I didn't mention, for example, that I once had a nightmare in which G Comm was free to judge people based solely on hearsay. Your “secret files” are going to G Communication so all your bullshit ain't forgotten. They are going to be same as Nova was. At least you who decide to go with them can have the same stuff to bitch about here.
Whenever anyone states the obvious -- that it's time for it to get back on the reality bus -- discussion naturally progresses towards the question, "Why is it that 99 times out of 100, it is incapable of looking with an open mind at anything that doesn't strictly endorse its views?" If you need help in answering that question, you may note that it argues that I am frowzy for wanting to get my message about G Comm out to the world. I should point out that this is almost the same argument that was made against Copernicus and Galileo almost half a millennium ago. This is going to be my last post so good luck to you all. Thanks for the time in reading this, I know I can get a bit long windedm that's how I made to HT though, LOL...

The REAL victim is....
....The Real Former HT.
always a hypocrite.
if these are your ideals, the destruction of 'nova' will take care of itself. you are such a small mind for thinking about little details like Secret Files and ex-directors. This is simply a failed company. You may or may not get your money back.
If you thought like a realist and understood anything about how business operates (where you, i hate to break it to you, were just a little cog in a huge, broken machine) you would accept the demise and find something more stable.
Get over this Eikaiwa business and get a real job...
oh sorry....that is why you came to Japan. Your only skill was speaking English. Your problem is that you speak it TOO WELL. who would want to listen to you with your useless diatribes?
Gift of the gab backfired I guess...HT...haha...priceless. It means nothing to nobody.
I don't normally like to slag but you well deserve it. Even after trying to exit so peacefully.
I am starting work tomorrow...
BACK TO WORK, and others interested...
I am back to work at a new branch tomorrow, and I am recording what happens on a blog as it happens...

Take care, and good luck all finding new work...
Must be something about bankrupting a company
and blaming everyone else but yourself for it. Seems to happen alot.
Hi everyone, former Nova employee here (left in 1995). Sorry to hear about this affecting you. I left Nova after troubles stemming from the drug testing fiasco (I refused to sign and told them to sod off and fire me if they wanted...they didn't)
I have to say that I wish they had not been rescued by anyone, and that Anders and the rest of the hoi polloi were out of work too. Unfortunately, I see many of the same problems that existed will still exist as long as there are old Nova management people there.
In the meantime, I wish you all well, if you've got a job with Neo-Nova, keep your options and your eyes open for new work. If you're still looking, best of luck. It sounds like a lot of the foreign teachers left the country so things may balance out.
Missing Japan and having been through a company bankruptcy myself, I know how much it blows!
real job
can you define what a real job is please? Im sorry im just a dont know anything nova instructor i dont understand? Thank you and id appreciate being enlightened?
give me ten points. or else youre an asshole for posting that?
Neo-Nova Management
Wouldn`t worry about the old Nova management. They will all be gone by next February. Neo-Nova will fall inside of two years. G.education has no idea what it has let itself in for and no idea how to run a conversation school.
If old Monkeybridge wants to
If old Monkeybridge wants to get over this Nova episode he should go on TV and apoligise a hundreds times and cry alot and the whole situation will be forgotten. It works for all the other high ranking officails who are corrupt and shady. I cannot believe that a country like Japan with their "samurai spirit" can do sh*t like this (cry and apaologise) and get away with it.
damn monkeys
Here's a Japanese expression that seems quite suited to this situation.
さるもきからおちる-saru mo ki kara ochiru (exp) even monkeys fall from trees.
(However, monkeys don't make excuses for their behaviour.)
Where are all the Drones?
I just want to say that I the real losers in the collapse of NOVA are proprietors of Sam & Dave’s, Bar Isn’t It, The Hub, Pure and all the other gaijin bars across Japan. These are intelligent hard working business people who devised a full proof plan: sell booze to English teachers in Japan. Brilliant!!! In addition they attract other demograps of customers, such as gaijin whores and other social rejects. How can they survive this loss? 4000 of their most loyal customers are completely broke. And now the gaijin whores have stopped coming too. That’s the real travesty!
Poor club owners
here here...
Barter 4 Booze
I feel so sorry for them, lets do an exchange program; food for booze. We can create a system where we use our highly advanced language transfusion abilities to receive food from the Japanese and then exchange this for booze and feed the needy bar owners...
Barter for Booze! I like it!!!
Bartering for Booze is a great idea. If you think about it that's all NOVA teachers actually did: taught English to get money for booze. Now that the middle man, Sahashi, is gone they can teach lessons and get reimbursed with alcohol directly. Without Monkey Bridge skimming off the top, the students can just purchase a 12 pack or a liter of liquor and trade that directly to their sensei. The drones can get more booze and the pupils pay less! It’s so much simpler.
Gotta love it
All of the "anti-Nova/English teacher" crowd logging on to give the English teachers a nice firm kick in the ass. Yeah, thats what they need...
Uh...look at yourself. What are you doing that is really so great? What are you doing that puts you in a higher position? So, you do international trading??? Good for you. You exploit a situation just as much as the English Teachers do. You do IT work??? Once again, good for you, why cant you do it in your own country? Not enough opportunity for your level of skill I'm sure.
The truth about the whole situation is that English Teachers came for an experience. No, they didnt come to provide an invaluable service to the Japanese people, nor do the Japanese ever go to other countries to provide invaluable services to other countries (Yes, I am sure there are exceptions on both sides, so no "I'm a goodie dogooder bs").
The dirty truth is, having English as a native language is at the particular moment in time a valuable asset that can be exploited. That does not give foreign or domestic companies the right to exploit that asset without compensation. Its like digging in your back yard, finding gold, and then having everyone tell you that you dont deserve it because they know how to use a backho, you dont, and therefore are a bad person that doesnt respect the land.
The truth is that most Nova/English teachers are good people that saw a chance to see another part of the world. They were able to do so using an asset that was inherited, not earned. But, to penalize them is like p0enalizing a good looking person. They didnt earn good looks, but they didnt steal them, and no one wants ugly models....(or how many of you "English Teachers are trash" crowd out there judge your women by the contents of their hearts and not by their "inherited" beauty. Sure, you dont care that Japanese women tend to be beautiful, its all about respecting the culture....eh?). So, us ugly, horrible, uncultural, English teachers happen use our inherited asset....bastards.
What happened with Nova is a tragedy. People, some who had talents in teaching or other areas, some who didnt, are now out of the job. But, most had good intentions and got screwed by an out of hand idiot that deserves jail time for his corporate crimes.
The board shares blame too. But, for the most part, the teachers just did what they were told. NO, they didnt come to help Japanese learn English. But, neither did you! And, Japan is a rich country, the people can recover. Currently,I am in Vietnam, and these people would give a right arm to have enough money to afford even 1 Nova lesson (just to provide prospective).
So, go bitch about the quality or English teachers in a country that doesnt rely on them. Please, just let the rest of us that only wanted to see and explore another country, do so, without harsh critizisms over a corrupt system that we didnt create.
Thanks, snobs, assholes, "better people", foreigners worth worshipping (I am kneeling on the ground now to the foreigners in Japan that arent English teachers. Can you hear my prayers?) Foreign business entrepenuers, please send me a sign as to your kingdom! I will worship at your command. Those that have a higher level of respect for the Japanese culture, please send me your wisdom. I long for it. I am not worthy. I am but taterred rags, I am an English teacher....forgive me...
Booze in Vietnam
That's a pretty good rant. But I'm just wondering, how much booze can you score in Vietnam for an hour man-to-man lesson? I know the people there have less money, but I expect the liquor to be much cheaper. I don't really care where I live, I just want to achieve the maximum amount of alcohol for each hour that I work.
Booze and....
Yeah mate, the booze in Vietnam is much cheaper. And so are the prostitutes!
MM french teachers
MM french teachers start being contacted by Nova.
They ask for MM center card
Headset
a visa and a visa copy
a passport and a passport copy
An old Teikiken
a Bank account booklet
Blue booklet for those under shakaihoken
vietnam
I was traveling in Vietnam about 7 years ago. Had a good time. Anyway, talked to someone in a bar there who said you can make up $20 an hour teaching privates in Saigon. Big bucks for a country were you can easily find breakfast for under 1 USD!
SAIGON HERE I COME!!!
Hells yeah! 20 an hour!!! I came to Asia to get drunk and laid. Working at NOVA barely paid enough for me to get shit faced every night. Sure I got some ass here and there, but most chicks thought I was pathetic because I worked for NOVA. Vietnam sounds like a dream come true. I'm so there!!! I just have to scrounge up enough money to get a plane or boat ticket over there. Peace-out Japan!!! I'm going to the land of opportunity. I'm going to mother fucking Saigon!!!!
Just give up. Get some self
Just give up. Get some self respect and go home. Neo Nova will eventually screw you as hard (if not harder) than Nova and you won't have any savings to fall back on. I was working for Nova earlier this year... I saw the writing on the wall months ago and found another job while the going was good... I am owed nothing except the time I wasted working for that horrendous company. I don't have many regrets in my life but I do regret working with Nova.
Don't submit to the substandard work environment and teaching methods offered by Nova (old or new). If you are educated and motivated you will find a better living and more self fulfillment in dozens of other countries.
Peace out.
