"Free" Reporter Butchers the News

When the bridge in Minnesota collapsed, FNN turned to Jerry Fisher (?) for a live report. Take it away, Jerry!

Listening to Jerry makes my ears bleed. Not only is his pronunciation and rythmn off, the script he's reading is probably in romaji.

Where did they find this guy and how did he con the Japanese media into letting him on the air? Surely the Japanese had reporters on the ground? To that question, the answer is sadly, no--they had nobody.

Hilarious! Actually I don't think his pronunciation is that bad especially as it all seems to be one long tongue twister for him. At least he says i.e "dess" and not "de sue" and other things, but the rhythm is bad and his stumblings are great, as is the fact that he was cut off before he could finish. Superb!

Whatever. We can mock him, but he got the gig so good for him. He doesn't sound any worse than the translators who stumble over their English translations on NHK.
