Hourly rates charged by dispatch agencies to corporates

Unread post by stone » Sun Jul 31, 2011 11:58 am

I'm curious to know what the hourly rates charged by dispatch agencies to corporate clients are:

A) Dispatch agency/company - > corporate client: basic business English
B) Dispatch agency/company - > corporate client: more specialized training such as presentation skills or negotiation
C) Dispatch agency/company - > corporate client: very high level of training; for example, sales training, valuation, MBA-type workshops with a qualified/certified instructor.

So far, I've heard of the following anecdotal ranges:

A) From Y20,000 to Y15,000-Y17,000 on average.. down to as low as Y10,000
B) From Y12,000 to Y20,000; Y30,000
C) From Y15,000 to Y100,000 (Y1 million/day)

However, the ranges above are pretty vague-sounding. It'd be great to have more relevant data.

Thinking of starting your own dispatch agency Stone?

Just call up a dispatch agency pretending to be a corporate client (e.g., you're from XYZ Co.'s international affairs division, and you are looking to arrange in-house language lessons for Japanese staff, so you need some rate quotes)...

Not really. However, I am curious about how much exactly I am being charged/pimped out for.

And, if an opportunity to deal direct did come up ( like in this example ), it'd be good to know some parameters to help set rates. Based on the information I have so far, probably something in the range of Y7,500 to Y9,000 an hour - which would still be shy of the lower-end of the B2B rate (Y10,000) but higher than what corporate dispatch agencies are currently offering individual contractors.

I think the general rule of thumb is that you're getting pimped out for at least twice of what you're being paid. If your pimp is a benevolent pimp (shakai hoken, etc.), then that rate may be higher. Also, some corporate clients may be tight-fisted (Japanese companies) whereas others may be loose with the purse strings (gaishikeis), so from company to company it's case-by-case...
