The Assorted Fruits and Nuts Thread

Unread post by Mogura » Tue May 27, 2008 5:57 pm

If you have ever done a little channel surfing during prime time, you have probably wondered whether dressing up as a woman is the Japanese man's favorite pasttime (well, I certainly have). And it's not a gay thing, for (presumably) straight men do it, too. Hey, whatever floats their boat (The H.M.S. Fruitcake)...

Anyway, funny little story here. I love the part: "Shigemitsu Kajiro, 30, was caught by a teacher in a corridor around 5:30 p.m. after the teacher noticed he was wearing shoes which did not match the school’s uniform. As if his manly gait, 5-o'clock shadow, and protruding Adam's apple didn't give him away...

Man disguised as schoolgirl arrested for trespassing in Ibaraki school

Tuesday 27th May, 10:02 AM JST

IBARAKI —
A 30-year-old man was arrested Monday night for sneaking into an Ibaraki high school, wearing a schoolgirl’s uniform and wig, police said Tuesday.

Shigemitsu Kajiro, 30, was caught by a teacher in a corridor around 5:30 p.m. after the teacher noticed he was wearing shoes which did not match the school’s uniform. After discovering the student was a man, the teacher took him to a staff room and called police. The suspect has so far said nothing about what he was up to or whether he had done this before, police said.

Chiba childcare worker exposes his nuts on train

Nut of the day, with a great quote: "It's true my private parts were exposed, but it wasn't because I wanted to show them to anyone."

I suppose he was just airing out his family jewels in preparation for the rainy season...

Chiba childcare worker exposes private parts on train

CHIBA -- A Chiba Municipal Government childcare section worker has been arrested after he unzipped his trousers and exposed his private parts to a woman traveling on the same JR Keiyo Line train, police said.

Kunihiko Fuse, 34, the official from Chiba, was arrested for indecent exposure.

Fuse, who was sober at the time of the Tuesday night incident, denies the allegations.

"It's true my private parts were exposed, but it wasn't because I wanted to show them to anyone," he told the police.

Police said Fuse opened his zipper and flashed his private parts at a 29-year-old woman sitting opposite him for about three minutes as they rode a Keiyo Line train on Tuesday night. The woman yelled out and a man near Fuse grabbed the government official and held him until police could arrive and arrest him.

Fuse was on his way home at the time of the alleged crime.

Woman arrested for living in closet in Fukuoka

Friday 30th May, 10:44 AM JST

FUKUOKA —
A 58-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday for sneaking into a 57-year-old man’s apartment and living in a closet in an unused room for a long time, police said Friday. Tatsuko Horikawa, 57, was arrested around 3:15 p.m. after she was seen by the man on a security camera he had installed.

The man told police that he hasn’t used the room for a long time and he didn’t realize anyone was living there. According to police, from time to time, the man noticed food missing from his refrigerator, so he installed a security camera. On Wednesday, the camera caught the woman and sent images to his mobile phone. She didn’t steal money but seems to have lived in the house for several months, police said.

Well, it probably beats sleeping under a blue tarp in the park. Though I wonder what she did when she had to use the can -- did she just sneak down the hall?

The guy should take the hint and start renting that room out.

Why did he go to all the trouble and expense of installing a surveillance system?
As opposed to, y'know, just having a look around. And finding the woman living in his fucking closet.
Man, what a tool.
Great story, though. :D

Teacher collared for sneaking into elementary school to photograph children

A former schoolteacher who sneaked into an elementary school in Tokyo's Setagaya-ku and tried to take photographs of children at a sports festival has been arrested, police said.

The 35-year-old former teacher, Toshio Watanabe, was arrested on suspicion of trespassing. Last year, Watanabe was sentenced for posting photographs of child traffic accident victims on a Web site without permission.

Investigators said Watanabe, a resident of Saitama, entered the school at about 2 p.m. on Sunday. Parents became suspicious because he was not wearing a red ribbon that was handed out to parents, and apprehended him. The former teacher reportedly admitted to the allegations against him.

"I went in to take photographs of children," police quoted Watanabe as saying.

In July last year, Watanabe was handed a 2 1/2 year prison sentence, suspended for five years with probation, after facing copyright violation charges for posting photographs of children who died in traffic accidents on his Web site without permission. The photos showed the children while they were still alive.

The man was subdued after stabbing bystanders near the bustling train station of Akihabara, an area known for electronics stores and is a haven for fans of video-games and comic-book culture.
At least 14 people including a police officer were injured, the fire department official said.
"About five of them are unconscious," he said.
The man was driving a truck that swerved into pedestrians before he got out and began stabbing people at random, according to media reports.
Television footage showed green plastic sheets in the middle of an intersection set up to give privacy to the injured as they were treated.
Crowds surrounded the area and looked on after the knifing spree in Akihabara, which was closed to cars on a Sunday afternoon.

Japanese 'dogman' robbed stores to feed pets: police
Posted Mon Jun 23, 2008 8:04pm AEST

A Japanese animal-lover on welfare went to extremes to provide for his many pets by robbing convenience stores while wearing the mask of a dog, police said.

Takaharu Kawata - branded by Japanese media as "The Dogman" - was caught on a surveillance camera wearing an oversized black-and-white canine mask while brandishing a knife.

The 28-year-old was arrested in Osaka for hold-ups in which he allegedly stole a total of 587,000 yen ($5,720) in cash, a police spokesman said.

Kawata "said he resorted to the robberies because he loves animals and was running out of money to feed his two dogs, five cats, five turtles, two snakes and an aquarium of tropical fish," the spokesman said.

"He bought a knife after watching television and thinking how easy it was to do hold-ups just by wielding it," he said.

Kawata, who is unemployed and living on welfare, was arrested in March while he was attempting to rob a convenience store. He is suspected of having robbed two stores previously.

Despite receiving monthly benefits of 120,000 yen, Kawata said he did not have enough money to cover the basic necessities for him and his pets.

He was reportedly without the mask when he was arrested, saying that his beagle - which he apparently bought with stolen cash - had ripped it up.

After his arrest, Kawata's pets were handed over to a pet shop, the police spokesman added, and the lease on his apartment was suspended.

Kawata is in police custody pending charges and a court appearance.

Man arrested for beating the heat with fan powered by neighbor's electricity

NAGASAKI -- How do you survive Kyushu's hot summer nights when your electricity has been cut off? For one Nagasaki resident, the answer was simple: steal some juice from your neighbor.

"I just borrowed some electricity to run a fan," Shigeru Yamauchi, 51, told police when he was arrested for trespassing.

According to police, Yamauchi sneaked onto his neighbor's property Friday evening and hooked up an extension cord to an outside wall socket.

His neighbor called police at around 6 a.m. the following morning, after spotting the cable.

Man, if I got beaten up by a guy in a Winnie the Pooh suit I'd probably be too embarrassed to even go the cops.

Come to think of it, maybe that's what the guy was counting on?

Mogura, you're slipping. How did you miss this one from the other day?
SHIROSATO, Ibaraki Prefecture--Twenty-four Ground Self-Defense Force recruits were admitted to hospital here Friday after a supervisor urged them to lick plastic explosives during a blast drill.

Many soldiers fell sick with nausea immediately after licking the charges, an officer at the GSDF's Koga Camp told local fire officials in an emergency call around 3:10 p.m. Friday.

The recruits aged 18 to 28--including one woman--were sent to hospital, with many remaining for further treatment. Four suffered severe spasms.(IHT/Asahi: September 1,2008)

How did I miss that one? I was out sick for a while last week. (No, I wasn't licking any explosives).

Since the supervisor urged rather than ordered, perhaps this article should be filed under The Sheep Nation Thread.

I am really curious as to what point the supervisor was trying to prove by having the recruits lick the stuff: "If you lick this, you'll experience extreme nasuea and suffer severe spasms... Go ahead and try it... (Homer Simpson voice) Mmm... C4..."

My guess is that he was trying to drive home the fact that plastic explosives are safe. You'd think the supervisor would have left it at that, but you can never be sure untill you trying putting them in your mouth.

A Japanese monk trying to rid his temple of a hornet's nest panicked when the hornets attacked him and dropped a torch, burning his temple to the ground, police said Thursday.

The Buddhist monk had put lighted rags on a stick into the nest in the temple, but dropped it and ran when the hornets flew out and attacked him, Niigata prefectural (state) police official Yuichi Ozaka said. The fire occurred Wednesday.

He said the monk, Atsushi Sato, 41, suffered burns on his ears, face and left hand, but he was not stung.

The temple in Ojiya City, northern Japan, was burned to the ground, along with the nest, Ozaka said.

Police said Sato's burns were not life-threatening.

Teacher held for allegedly walking in the nude in Chiba park

Tuesday 16th September, 03:52 PM JST

CHIBA —

A male high school teacher was arrested Monday night on suspicion of public indecency for allegedly walking naked in a park in Chiba, about 40 kilometers east of central Tokyo, police said Tuesday. The suspect was identified as Norio Tanabe, 52, a teacher at Kanto Daiichi High School, a privately run school located in Edogawa Ward, eastern Tokyo.

Tanabe, a resident of Chiba’s Chuo Ward, was witnessed to have entered the park in Mihama Ward of the city without any clothing at around 10:35 p.m. Monday, police said. Policemen rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect on the spot. Tanabe told investigators that he took off all of his clothes while jogging. The Penal Code sets penalties of up to six months in prison or up to 300,000 yen in fines for anyone who commits an indecent act in public.

"I thought if I set a fire I wouldn't have to go through with the wedding," the Yomiuri quoted him as telling police.
Guests at the hotel were evacuated and no one was injured when he set the fire in the early hours of Sunday morning at the resort hotel in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo.

TOKYO (Reuters) – A male Japanese air force major caught naked while shopping for women's underwear has been suspended from his duties for 10 days, a spokeswoman at his base said on Friday.

The man, on his way home from a late-night farewell party for a colleague in early September, stripped off his clothes behind a convenience store before going in and buying panties and pantyhose.

"He had just his wallet and his shoes on him," said the spokeswoman from the Matsushima air base in Miyagi, northern Japan.

"He thought it would be funny if he went into the store stark naked, that it would surprise people."

There was no one else in the store but the store clerk, who called the police shortly after the man left the store. Papers were filed against him on suspicion of indecent exposure.

The incident follows a series of scandals for Japan's military. The air force's top general was sacked last week for saying Japan was not an aggressor in World War Two, angering China and South Korea where bitter memories remain over Tokyo's past military aggression.

The essay "was necessary in order for Japan to head in the right direction," he said during a parliamentary hearing in which he was harshly criticised by opposition lawmakers who said his views were a challenge to the legislature.

"Freedom of speech should be guaranteed, even for Self Defense Force personnel," Tamogami responded, using the official name for Japan's military.

"Would it be a democracy if public discourse is suppressed?"

Tanogami said Japan should amend its constitution, which bans the use of force as a way to resolve international conflicts, because views are currently divided on how to defend the country.

The government has insisted that the essay was contrary to its official views.

But Ichiro Ozawa, head of the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan, said the government was aware of Tamogami's views before he wrote the essay.

"The government appointed him (as air force chief) and hastily forced him to retire after his thoughts came to the fore," Ozawa told reporters, saying he would challenge the government on the issue.

China, the two Koreas and other Asian nations still have searing memories of Japan's aggression and colonial rule. China was quick to voice "strong indignation" over the comments.

Tamogami wrote in the essay that many Asian countries "take a positive view" of Japan's past militarism, seeing Tokyo as a bulwark against Western imperialism.

"It is certainly a false accusation to say that our country was an aggressor nation," he wrote.

The scandal came at a bad time for Prime Minister Taro Aso, who criticised Tamogami's remarks but has himself previously caused controversy by defending aspects of Japanese colonialism.

Prime Minister Taro Aso, who has himself caused controversy by defending aspects of Japanese colonialism, repeated his view that the essay was "inappropriate" for a senior official in Tanogami's position.

"Everyone has the right to freedom of expression as long as they are Japanese," Aso told reporters. "But his remarks were inappropriate for someone in the position of a chief of staff in Japan under civilian control."
On a side note, I like how Yahoo! can't decide if his name is Tamogami or Tanogami...
"But it's got sharp, pointy teeth!"

Japanese guy buys a return ticket to Mexico, gets his tourist visa sorted out, flies out there... then doesn't leave the airport.
For 3 months.

The guy's just living in the terminal. It's kind of like that Tom Hanks movie.
"Bachelor Party".
Each monkeys has different face. It's very difficult to distinguish monkey's face, like we can't memorize foreigner's face.
