Re: lifes little gripes

I was just re-reading my remarks to ABs the other day with some satisfaction when it struck me afresh that deep sarcasm does not come off very well on the internet at all, so in case anyone thought otherwise – no, in fact I did not in fact have an awesome Golden Week with my ever hospitable in-laws,...

Re: lifes little gripes

Well ABs, of the many gripes of yours I've read, I've never seen any either in or out of context that could be taken as overtly racist, prejudiced against the disabled, necessarily conveying any general opinion about Japan as a nation and so on. Perhaps you have formed general opinions on the basis ...

Re: Have they pulled a fast one?

Hello everyone! I think my employers might be trying to take some money from me in a very underhanded manner and I hope you might be able to confirm my suspicions. I recently renewed my contract with the company (250k basic) and I also asked to start making payments to the National Pension and Heal...

Re: lifes little gripes

Yes, that is the point. A much higher number of people in this country, compared to the one I come from are ignorant of their own racism and don't realise that it is/or should be an issue. Their attitudes are similar in some ways, but also more pronounced to those that prevailed in my environment wh...

Re: lifes little gripes

You can forgive the kids but the adults have no excuse. Use your brains and a bit of empathy. You are adults. I took these two lines out of their context as they seem to cancel each other out. The adults' "excuse" is that they don't use their brains and don't have empathy. It is like the whole nati...

Re: Hi, Started applying got some Eikaiwas but have question

Sorry about the negativity. It's just that I have seen people being given the run around by cheap-skate businesses on more than one occasion. I actually had one desperate American email me and offer to pay me $5,000 if I helped him to get a dodgy visa so that he could do bum sales work on the side. ...

Well, i'm not sure about that beyond pointing out that supplied apartments usually come at a premium these days and if you arrange your own accommodation it is much cheaper and there won't be any problems with you being married or otherwise. Generally speaking it is a good idea to get yourself out o...

Is this a visa issue or something? Are these business contacts of yours wanting to employ you on a humanities visa paid for by another company? Seems a bit sleazy to me.

OK. The 'dead' part is not bullshit. Just all the surrounding information If you want to think that all the crap that has been coming out wasn't expressly approved by Obama that's up to you. My point of view is that misinformation and manipulation start at the top. There was a huge firefight... He u...

I should add that this is not a fault shared by the master of bullshit rhetoric Barak Obama. The entire presentation of these events is obviously bullshit from beginning to end. It's already been turned around 180 degrees and is likely to be turned around several times more before we are through. bu...

Yes, I do. It's very convenient in a number of ways. However, I opened a Premiere HSBC account for which you need 60,000 sterling to start. That is fantastic because then there are no fees and you can change currencies inside the same account without charge and send money where you like easily by in...

Re: The end of Bin Laden

I guess you could argue 'catalyst'. However, arguing 'cause' is going a bit far. All that New American Century stuff was in place before the attacks, and the relationship with the Iraq war tenuous in the extreme. As for the markets, they largely ignored the ongoing Iraq war and carried on with their...

Re: Gaba declares war on General Union?

I remember Suruhashi complaining that if the METI ruling stood they would go broke. Soon after that they did. I can't help wondering if Gaba would lose viability if they had to follow normal employment requirements. If so, this suit would make sense as a stalling tactic to keep the show on the road ...

It definitely seems to be 'a taste of your own medicine' thing going on here. Like 'Ha, Ha. You were prissy with us, and now we're going to be prissy with you' thing. And like TEPCO does the apology thing: wer're really sorry for not being more communicative. Like we didn't think about what to do wi...

Well that just goes to show that the majority are middle of the road conservatives and some people to the right of that feel intimidated. Those people obviously aren't in powerful positions like the ones who aren't intimidated inthe least and find it a joke.

The last part is parody.

Yes, I am always bemused by claims of a left wing bias in the mainstream media, left wing bias on college campuses and so on. These organisations are very conservative.

Re: Nuclear Reactor explosion.

After the misreading of the radiation level the other day, I read that an offer of having an independent monitor on the site was offered but declined. I found that very instructive as to who holds the power. It's clear that TEPCO does. Criminal charges are extremely unlikely methinks.

It would appear that there is a lot more work around, due to the exedous of many foriegners. So, if you wanted to get just anything, now would be a good time assuming that you're not that phased about working in the North. I see you have already booked a ticket. Still, I'm not so sure Kan is giving us all the information we need. Put that with the fact that is seems like TEPCO isn't exactly keeping Kan up to speed and yeah it's a problem. Something must have just been reported on the morning news in Aus about the water boiling away from one of the reactors...

Re: Is anyone getting the fuck out of Japan?

I wouldn't want to be near the nuclear plants in Fukushima, but I think leaving the Tokyo area over radiation fears is a bit overblown, not even to mention Kansai. It seems like more trouble--outside, of course, of the places that were actually devastated by the quake and tsunami--is being created ...
