The luxury “office” that former Nova president Nozomu Sahashi claimed was actually a showroom is no more.

The Asahi Shimbun reports that the 3,000 square-foot office on the top floor of a building in the Naniwa ward of Osaka is now completely empty. Sahashi reported spent between 60 to 70 million yen in renovations to install a mini bar, sauna, tea room, and bed room.

You may recall Sahashi's excuse that the “office” was supposed to be a showroom and not for his personal use. The big draw for subsequent renters is the office's view of Osaka and the Kyocera Dome. Apparently 10 companies have expressed interest in office space NOVA once occupied, but some companies have pointed out that moving into the office on the 20th floor might be “bad luck.”

経営破綻（はたん）したＮＯＶＡ（大阪市）の元社長猿橋望容疑者（５６）＝６月２４日に逮捕＝らによる業務上横領容疑事件で、豪華な「社長室」を備えた ＮＯＶＡの「お茶の間留学」の拠点が今月に入って大阪・ミナミのオフィスビルから完全に撤去された。高級洋酒が並ぶミニバーや茶室もあり、「会社私物化の 象徴」と指摘された部屋は白い壁と天井に囲まれた空きフロアになった。

大阪市浪速区のＪＲ難波駅近くにある２０階建て賃貸ビル。「社長室」は最上階にあった。約３００平方メートルで、奥にはサウナつきのバスルーム、ベッドルームもあった。６千万～７千万円かけて改装したという。

元社長の代理人の弁護士は「招待客のためのショールームで、私室のように用いた事実はない」としているが、ごく一部の幹部社員だけが出入りして猿橋元社長の決裁を受けていたとされ、「社長室」と呼ばれた。

ＮＯＶＡの一部事業を引き継いだ会社はこのビルから撤退。ビル管理会社によると、「社長室」だった部屋は京セラドーム大阪など大阪市内を一望で き、入居を検討している客を案内して眺望のよさをアピールしている。ＮＯＶＡが入居していた７フロアにはこれまで１０社ほどが興味を示し、うち数社が「社 長室」のあった２０階への入居を検討。ただ「縁起が悪い、と断る会社もある」（幹部）という。
