Shawn, this used to be a good space to get information but lately it has turn to a shit all over Nova. Nova sucks and what it did to its students and to its employees, including me, is completely fucked, but Japan is a capitalist society that runs on big business and this shit happens all the time. The Japanese government also is a key player in how fucked this all is.

This will be my last post on this board and although your information has been extremely biased and recently a little late (teachers stated this food for lessons program almost a month ago) i do what to thank you for your hard work. the site has been helpful and i really hope you get off this "Fuck Nova" trip and get back to what you do best, help us gaijin.

I've been debating with myself over the last few weeks whether or not I should write this post. Obviously, I outvoted myself and wrote it. I concluded I absolutely had to tell you that lexiphanicism is, at its core, a prudish system that seeks to operate on a criminal -- as opposed to a civil disobedience -- basis. But before I continue, allow me to explain that Former Nova instructor's hastily mounted campaigns symbolize lawlessness, violence, and misguided rebellion against Saruhashi and the organization that gave them a life in Japan -- extreme liberty for a few, even if the rest of us lose more than a little freedom. You all remind me of the cunts who would winge when you came in and looked over the schedule before you took off your coats, I am now happy I took your free's and chronic N/S M to M lessons for myslef now. You all had you little hands in bringing down Nova. Your busts for drugs and liasions with students that led to an abortion and a lot of free tickets being offered in a brianch I used to work at.
Many of you neglected to report for work when you were needed by your branches the most. This is unforgivable and former Nova management is going to see to it that it stays on the record on your new folders. Your chances of ever being promoted or having your contracts renewed are a lot lower than had you had the courtesy to show up when you should have.

Stop whining! Anders and Saruhashi did their best in a very tough situation that would have made most of you cry and run back to Australia or wherever the hell you crawled out from. Though many people agree that we must work together against negativism and hate, etc., Former Nova instructors have compiled an impressive list of grievances against the company. Not only are all of these many of these grievances completely fictitious, but Former Nova instructor's favorite tactic is known as "deceiving with the truth". I've read so much bullshit on this site since the trouble started- some of it slanderous.
The idea behind this tactic is that it wins our trust by revealing the truth but leaving some of it out. This makes us less likely to tackle the multinational death machine that Former Nova instructors are currently constructing. Former Nova instructors refuses to do anything for itself. Am I being unduly harsh for writing that? I think not. When the religious leaders in Jess's time were wrong, Jesus denounced them in extremely harsh terms. So why shouldn't I, too, use extremely harsh terms to indicate that Former Nova instructors likes to have difficult social issues presented to it in simple, black-and-white terms? There is one final irony to my story. By now, we are all more than familiar with Former Nova instructor's soporific policies.

Sorry bud, but the former NOVA management is culpable for the horrific mismanagement of the company that led to it's ultimate demise no matter how much they claim that they knew nothing and try to place ALL of the blame squarely on the monkey man's shoulders and regardless of whether or not neo-nova rehires them in their former positions. I don't really think that what they have to say will matter much once indictments are handed down. I Used to work for nova and I will work for G.Com. I will not however, work food. I'm sorry but that has to be the lamest idea ever. Why don't you just do a private lesson and us the money to BUY food. Hell Ive had more food given to me by ex students and neighbors than I've ever had! I know the situation sucks but come on? lessons for food? Is that the best you can come up with?

Has it occurred to anyone that "Former HT" is not an actual former HT, but is simply using that pseudonym to draw your fire? That his comment was intended as a parody of the pretentiousness, vulgarity, and sheer incoherence of many of the comments on this site? Granted, it's not very funny (the joke, I suppose, was purely for the amusement of the writer, who sat back and waited for the predictable outpouring of righteous indignation), but surely you can see that this person is not trying to defend Nova management. More likely, he or she simply wanted to have some fun at the expense of easily enraged Nova instructors.

More generously, perhaps the real target of the "Former HT" comment on this page was the "former HT" who posted on Nov.6.
This person seems a more plausible example of the mindset of the foreign pseudo-management types who worked at Nova, and one deserving of a rebuttal.

Whatever his true intentions, the "Former HT" on this page has succeeded in making a fool of those who let their antipathy for Nova get the better of them. There's a lot to dislike about this company, but it serves no purpose at all to waste energy attacking people who see the situation at Nova as little more than an opportunity to bait its former employees.

Before G's "takeover" of Nova was announced, I thought any company would be nuts to want it. Not with the deal they got though.

G will get potential access to all those students and a pool of very desperate (although bottom of the barrel) teachers but without any of Nova's liabilities. Of course, the 200 schools and all former teachers promises are most likely impossible lies, but they are just aiming high. Even if they only get a few schools out of it in the end, that will be a few schools they got for almost nothing.

In my opinion, they should have just let the Nova beast die totally rather than give what little it had away.

I never saw that article. I assume they will be able to retain more of the ex nova students than that and get at least a few profitable schools out of this. I could be wrong though. English schools are a dime a dozen and I don't see G offering anything special.

Just have to wait and see I suppose. I am not part of this, but it's been interesting to watch.

I honestly don't know why so many Nova teachers are choosing to stay in Japan. Unless you have a wife and kids, it's pretty stupid to stay in a country that has a collapsed labor market. Not to mention, as a foreigner, you aren't really wanted in Japan by most people anyway, especially when they think you may work illegally or cause trouble by being out of work and making noise. I worked in Japan myself for a while, and I personally just couldn't deal with being marginalized, looked down upon, and generally disliked by a majority of the population. Just go back to your home country where you can feel that you belong and actually get a job worthy of your skills and intelligence. It's much better than struggling on food scraps to stay in a country that doesn't care about you and getting pigeonholed as a talking sock puppet.

Yes, they should make sure they get their unemployment if they are staying and not working, and they should do their best to insist on the back pay they are owed if they will work for G.Comm, but the point is that all of that process will take a while, and my guess is that they still need to eat TODAY, TOMORROW and THE NEXT DAY....
